Yes I’d like to get the top hose for a 2.7 TDV6 locally

I want to do a turbo upgrade and an intercooler for the OKA, and there's no sample I can use. Gotta build it from scratch.

I know Hose Co in kewdale sell the silicone hoses in straight lengths, I’m sur there’s a hose supplier close to you, buy some stainless steel mandrel bends, hose clamps and cut and clamp[emoji1531][emoji1531]
You might need a spot weld or to to help the hose bight.
This is what my mate done for turbo charging his old Datto 1600 years ago

Gotta use the right sort of hose clamps with silicon hoses............ they're the ones that have the thread in a round bar at 90 degrees at the end of the strap.
Don't know what they're called, but readily available.

Worm drive clamp.
T-Bolt actually... The worm drives arent suitable

Most times I'd agree but not for silicone intercooler hoses, slightest whiff of oil and the hose will come off under any sort of boost, the worm drives bite into the silicone hose to stop this happening.
Fine for coolant

Even though trucks use Tee bolts for all their silicone intercooler connection pipes?

Fully agree about the silicone pipes blowing off, that’s why my mate had a couple of welds put on the end of the stainless bends to help bite into the pipe.
Once done didn’t happen again, IIRC two or three spots around the bends about 10mm back from the edge[emoji1531]

Should have clarified when I mentioned "any sort of boost" I should have specified high boost ( 25+ psi)

Yep, ideally in high boost applications murray clamps are the go, failing that , intercooler specific worm drive are better at holding than t bolt.

We were constantly blowing hoses with worm drive clamps at anything over 20psi on the 4bd1's, never blew one off when we went to proper clamps (the ones with the springs)

There's a couple of different versions depending on manufacturer, some use a coil spring on the tension screw, some a wave type spring between inner and outer bands but the principle is the same.
It's what I've used on my hoses

Yes thats them, the coil spring version.

the clamps you are referring to are called Mikalor clamps , available in a huge range of sizes and material.
my D2 had mikalors on nearly every hose as nearly every other clamp broke......

Either that or they cut through the bloody hoses.

yes you can get wide Mikalors with a rolled shoulder so it doesnt cut the hose.

Yeah, I like them. Forgot what they were called though.

Constant tension clamps?
yep, that's them
https://cdn.frooition.com/170219/images/Murray+Clamp4pack.jpgthose inner bands concentrate the pressure to stop them slipping off if there is any deformation under high boost as well as keeping constant tension

Trucks run 35 to 40PSI of boost, the spring tee bolt clamps have been used for decades in this application.

This thread has opened my eyes to all the different types of hose clamps available ... and I've found myself looking up the various styles referred to. In case anyone else is also unfamiliar with all the options I recommend
Industrial Clamp Manufacturer - Heavy Duty & Specialty Clamp Manufacturer (https://www.murraycorp.com/murray-products)
that seems to show the most comprehensive range of these various clamp types I've come across so far.

These are the clamps that I referred to as worm drive, as opposed to "Jubilee" clip.

I haven't had enough experience to delve too deep with trucks , but the one time I had an intercooler hose off a truck it looked like this
https://www.truck-parts-online.co.uk/global/media/products/medium/seg2.jpg
and the clamp ( I guess a T bolt of sorts ) looked like this ( V band )
https://www.truck-parts-online.co.uk/global/media/products/large/1439820601-7161.jpg
In past experience with 4x4's the smooth basic T clamps ( TB and bolt and barrel type ) have eventually slipped off the hose, one fella (Landy) was in between Carnarvon and Exmouth turn off and after it came off the first time he said it kept coming off no matter what he did ( was a decent quality hose too ) all I had was a Jubilee clamp ( don't normally like them but good as a spare ) which got him back to Carnarvon.
I guess there is lots still getting around with the basic type but I won't use them on turbo applications
Might be a long bow but it's the same reason I like my tyres to have tread [biggrin]

Lots of trucks have flat ended boost hoses like pic below with flat tee bolt clamps. The V clamps are usually used on the metal turbo elbows for positioning them. The pipes have raised lips rolled into them to stop them popping off.175418
