Anybody got a trick for fitting the stretch fit drive belt on to crankshaft and fan pulley’s, old one is still in place, looks ok but I got a new one $40 genuine, only serpentine belt went, got all my parts and ready to start putting it back together, new Alternator arrived this morning from Island 4 x 4 in England along with a complete Landrover service kit, delivered to my door in 7 days for $850 aud got quoted $1480 just for alternator from 3 Landrover dealers here in Oz, gee getting those 12 bolts out holding the fan shroud was fun, turbo boost valve I think it’s called just removed 1 hose and managed to push it out of the way, the 3 bolts holding that on went through the shroud and are part of the 12, going to take my time putting it back together to make sure I don’t miss anything, don’t want to do this job again

Generic tools are available for running on stretch belts but they look to stretch the belt more than would the LR tool which clamps the belt to the pulley. I have in mind to make a clamp similar to the LR tool but will probably also have a generic tool on hand.

Got car all back together minus one shroud bolt, just could not get it in no matter how I twisted and turned. Test drive was fine everything as it was, wife and I went shopping today on way home at servo noticed oil under engine, lifted bonnet and oil all over front of motor, drove around corner to home and had a look couldn’t find where it was coming from, going to leave it till morning and wash the oil off and try and find out what’s going on, I must have loosened something whilst pushing and prodding through to get fan and shroud out, looks like it’s coming from drivers side, could the belt have hit something when it broke ??

What did you use to fit the stretch belt?

What did you use to fit the stretch belt?
looked up the clamps designs, I ended up cutting out a bit of hardwood about 40mm long width of lower pulley, shaped to curve of pulley, sanded it all smooth no sharp edges, used my smallest G clamp about 50mm clamped belt on to pulley and little bit of lubricant and it just slipped on real easy, did a trial fit with my old one even though it was stretched a bit, but no problem.
just got to fix this next problem

Thanks - I had wondered if a small G-clamp would work.
