I have just put the engine (Td5) back in my Disco with a new drive plate.
The first thing I checked after bolting up bell housing and engine mounts was to check that the torque convertor spins freely which it did.
So I thought I may as well do those bolts next. Because the Td5 have a 2 piece drive plate and ring gear assembly the bolt holes on the two have to be aligned.
Having fitted, I would estimate, well over 200 autos in my time, which all have had one piece drive plates, it did not even occur to me with the Td5 that I would need to line up the holes.
So I now have to remove engine again and wait till Tuesday for a new set of bolts(80 wasted) before I can refit it.
To say I was ****ed off is an understatement.
