Hi all, having some issues with my aircon. 2014 Disco 4.

Basically not cooling when the car is idling. Seems to kick into gear when up and running though. I get that typical non aircon fan smell when it's not working so suspect the compressor is switching off.

I've had the gas checked and apparently it's very high on the high side. Not really sure what that means though. I've been referred to an auto electrician for further diagnosis.

Any ideas what I may be up for? I have a new car on order, which will replace this one in around 3 months when it arrives so don't really want to be shelling out thousands to fix something.

Cheers, Sam.

Hi on the high and the lack of flow over the condenser (looks like a radiator, sits in front of the radiator)

Start by cleaning the condenser best method is grill off, plenty of water from a garden hose, not a pressure washer to soften everything up. Let it soak. Then hit it with the hose and some truck wash.

If that doesn't work. The next thing is the fan.. If it is hot enough to kill the aircon the coolant temp will be ugly aswell.

Thanks. I'll try cleaning the condenser and report back.

GAP tool reader is what you need,it will read what is going on with the complete system.

Any other way is guesswork.

Maybe you can borrow one if you dont have one and dont want to purchase one?

The compresser control valve is the usual culprit.

Not with a fault like this.. No cooling at idle and high pressures means the valve is working.
