At least my phone has started working again, but the 2a has broken down, and the weather is looking black, the weather radar that covers this area is not working, and none of the river gauges along the Talbragar have been updated since noon yesterday.

FWIW, BOM website has a bit of a dense shower passing between Naromine and Eumungerie.

And this afternnon I tripped and fell heavily in the shed, dropping the carburettor. It does not appear to be damaged, which is more than can be said for my knees, particularly my left one, although nothing seems to be broken, just bruised - enough to draw blood on the left kneecap despite the overalls. Pretty shaken though.

Yes, the World does appear to be out to get you!
Think of a way to get it back - revenge is Sweet!

Funny that,not.. That was the reply I got when I asked a Pro Painter if he could paint the shed roof a few years ago..

But if in doubt he was right in saying NO. Coming a gutser from nearly 30' up I don't think there would have been much bouncing going on, just a quick "SPLAT" from him & an "Oh ****!" from me.

I am sure that happens from the day one is born[bigsad][biggrin]

Anyway, look after yourself, those falls are not nice, there does seem further to fall as one gets older[bigsad][biggrin]

Around 5 or so years ago I clumsily ( trying to get all of my stuff rather than make 2 or more trips... tired ) I fell out of the cab of the R Scania, landed on my right hip. Not a soul around. It took nearly 15 minutes for me to get up, and another 15 before I could drag myself to my car. It was days before I thought I could walk again. Up until then I still thought I was immortal.

You're right Ian, bouncing left the building quite some time ago, but I didn't notice until it hurt.

S'funny ain't it. Everybody else seem to have Bounce Capability when observed but when it comes to the then Observer's bounce it can ****ing hurt or maim.

The method of hitting the ground is fine while you can still do it (arms tucked in, head down etc) but one day one will lose that knack & BINGO! Gotcha ya bastard! :rulez:

One of my worst ones was after I had Abdominal Surgery & thinking I was Super Person after a few days. & as it turned out not a lot of abdominal strength then, I tried to do something on the Discovery low down so while sitting I started to slowly unwind backwards.

I recall thinking/wondering WTF was behind me when I sat down ie. A garage Jack? An open toolbox? Some other bit that could cave my head in? I had no control to stop falling back but in this case my "Land Rover Optional Workshop God P/N 000000' was looking after me & there was none of the above but a clear, smooth concrete floor. By that time (split seconds) I had enough strength & determination to brace myself for any impending crunch which fortunately didn't come & I hit the floor with a semi-controlled bump & mainly with my shoulders.

Have a friend who does training for a couple of transport companies. All drivers have to do this training before their first trip and then again at regular intervals

Training is how to climb in and out of a truck cab. Most drivers hate it as they considered is treating them as not knowing how to do the most basic of tasks

Not a legal requirement but they identified too many drivers injuring themselves getting in and out. When looked into most people were just being careless

From a selfish point of view injured drivers represented unnecessary down time and hassle to find a replacement at short notice . Training has seen a significant reduction in injury which has to be a win for the drivers

A couple of days later is when I feel something like this. So, a couple of days gone, how are the knees? Hope all is well.

"All is well" is perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but they seem to be getting better. Last night getting into bed, rolling over in bed was quite painful, but this morning I rolled over without even thinking of them. But now you have drawn my attention - they are still painful, but the pain is low level, down there with my arthritis and neuralgia.

Thanks for thinking about me!

Once over age Fifty its a good idea to carry a copy of your Birth Certificate around in your back pocket.
When contemplating stunts like scaling ladders, climbing on roofs, etc, etc, take it out and read the date on it :)

Cheers, Mick.

I've been climbing on this house's roof since I built it 22 years ago, and climbing on house roofs for probably 70 years if you include the times we sneaked up on the roof to retrieve the ball when Dad was not home (despite an absolute ban on doing so).

3 points of contact and all that? Yep, and that is where I failed. Been on the road for five days with little sleep ( timeslots should be banned) so fatigue played a role.

There was about a 5' span between plant platform RSJ's last week so I had to see if I could make the jump cleanly. [emoji16]

Admittedly there was only about 2' to the next roof, but I would've looked like a goose to the 18yo apprentice if I didn't make it. (And probably scored some good grazes at a minimum) [emoji15][emoji23]

Are you sure we ain’t related, long lost family from the dark ages
I still don’t listen to my old man, he pretends to listen to me, but does his own thing and he’s passed that onto my sons (sometimes they don’t listen at all), look at ya and nod their head, turn ya back and they’ve gone and done it completely different (wrong)
🤣🤣

You should meet Search and Destroy, my 2 grandsons. They don’t listen to anyone except their mum, and that’s only because they like eating.

But but but, did you make it?

I think the biggest hazard for Fridgies is coming down an extension ladder with an armful of tools while trying to grip the rungs with one's teeth.

A previous workmate of mine tried it, went arse over head backwards, landed on his back & stove his skull in on the concrete slab. Died about a year later.

Before joining the Army, my son did a roofie apprenticeship. Apart from his screw gun, which had a holster, he'd drop his tools, in a bag. Philosophy was 'I can get new ones'. He was working on things like distribution centres. Long way down. No getting up if you fall off one of those.
