I've been having some issues with the check engine light coming on regularly with my 2007 4.0L petrol Discovery 3, ~230,000kms, regularly serviced, only unusual issue up to now is that is throwing some lost comms errors on startup a couple of times a week but this looks to be unrelated. 
Using my IIDtool the code thrown is P0170-00 (EB ) which is listed as unknown and reported as occurring at 0km which is strange. A quick google check shows that it's a generic OBDII code meaning fuel trim problems on bank one. My local independent LR shop is booked out for the next month, and the wife and kids need to head to Perth next week (~450km trip each way) and I don't want them stranded if I can help it!
Looking through some of the live readings, most seem fine though I can't seem to find live readings of the O2 sensors (I don't have the bluetooth version, just the original that takes over the LCD screen in the dash). However, the fuel rail temperature is reporting -40degC which is odd, with presumably an open circuit voltage of ~4.6V. Looking through the scant manuals online, to me it seems that the 4L V6 shouldn't have a fuel temperature sensor in which case this reading is a software hangover from a different engine - am I right in assuming that? I'm hoping this is a red herring that I can ignore, but I don't have any data to compare it before the fault occurred.
Assuming an O2 sensor is faulty, is driving another one to two thousand kilometres going to cause any issues? e.g. running too lean or something else likely to cause longer term problems? I'm not confident I can get a set in time without paying $500+ per sensor at a local auto parts chain store. Next step is to grab some MAF cleaning spray tomorrow and clean that but I'm doubtful that will make a difference.
