Hello,
TD5, 2004 defender, air con working but cooling fan not cutting in. No nanocom so can’t do a diagnosis, what can i do or look for?

Set the car running with the air con running full noise, the temp went up to 95 but it still didn’t cut in. What can i do?

And you mean the under dash fan I'm guessing?

Edit.....On a re read, it would appear you mean the condenser fan?

Pull the plug and check for power with a multimeter.

Yes it’s the condenser fan.
I have put a test light over it but nothing 😞

I have put a test light over it but nothing [emoji20]I can't remember for sure what ones are there... But you could check the relays next to the ECUs under the seat, Also there's a fuse bank there as well

Yes I thought of that but need to find out which relay it is though.

My first step would be disconnect and run 12v straight to fan. If it does not work there's your issue (Change out fan) . if it does then start pulling things apart. Small steps my friend. Baz[wink11]

Chances are it is a Denso fan, plenty in the wreckers off Jap cars.

I’ll do that tonight and let you know.

OK,
I put some current over the two points, both ways, from the battery of the ride on (14 Volts) nothing.
I then took the battery charger (old style) and tried that, nothing so I guess its a new motor?
How do you get to hold the bolt heads to take the nots off? I can’t get to them.

I use a 1/4 drive socket 10mm from memory and every extension bar i had. Its a pain but can be done by one person. Also if its a AC system that runs along the bottom of the dash, then to get to the fan you have to remove the whole system and split it. This is a pretty big job by yourself and requires you to degas the system and feed all the wiring through the grommets. I would get a quote from an auto leccy. I spent 3 grand on my 130 TDI aircon and it was marginal. I have since fitted a Red dot system stand alone for $2400 and its great. I have not worked on a TD5 defender aircon so my advise is more related to the 300 tdi aircon. As always happy to learn . Baz

Hey Bazzle, I think you're thinking of the HVAC fan going by your description.
The OP's problem is the condenser fan is now confirmed not working.

It's a Landrover .. some fasteners require the complete dismantling of the entire car, and maybe your neighbours car, to get to the nut or bolt that turns whilst you try to undo the other end! [tonguewink]
