Hi Guys,

I have a 2015 D4 SDV6 3L with a stalling problem that’s proving hard to diagnose and there is no fault code logged.
The car will stall but only ever when off road when the wheels have either lossed traction or are losing traction.

It runs without any issue whatsoever when on road and has never stalled, but once I am off road it will stall in various instances whether in low or high range and it is not exclusive to any one of the TR modes and most times the stall will pop the engine bay F13 fuse (EMS) but not every time.

Every stall triggers an ‘Engine Systems Fault’ warning on the dash but not log a fault code.

The best example I can give is if I’m in sand and bogged attempting to move forwards the wheels will spin as I have no traction (as normal when bogged) then when I stop and put it in reverse and touch the throttle the revs climb to 1100 and the engine stalls, the car is not working hard whatsoever and it is not a classic ‘too low a gear’ stall, the engine just cuts out and all the dash light are on exactly like stalling a manual, the engine then will not start as the F13 fuse has popped, I then replace the fuse and the engine will then start without hesitation.

It has also stalled moving forward on a hill descent in low 1 using the engine to brake and zero throttle.

Everyone I have spoken to has not come across this problem and cannot find the cause including LR main dealer and 3 LR independants.

Has anyone experienced this problem or have any ideas to try?

Thanks in advance guys!

Cheers

Jamie

I would start with the wiring diagram and see what that fuse is feeding, you can then work from there, inspecting components etc

Sounds like a wire is shorting when there's significant movement between the engine/transmission and the body.

On earlier models fuse 13 supplies the fuel control and fuel pressure valves on the HPFP so that provides an area to scrutinize.
