Yes,the sons 110 went in less than 24hrs,about 10 months ago for a stupidly rediculous price.

It was a 2009,about 130K on it,done a heap of beach work, but cleaned up pretty well.

At the time, around here, there were not many 110's for sale, mainly 90's.

A 1985 single cab HCPU in bits, sold for NZ$12,660 last monday on the NZ trademe auction site. In bits!

The owner had dismantled it about 10 years ago and simply not put it back together. Registration was on hold which was part of the value as it could be reassembled and put back on the road with a minimum of bureaucratic issues, but still... it was in bits! For NZ$12,660... [bighmmm]

Around the $80K mark at a guess,or slightly more.

Just had a look at the Defenders for sale in our area on carsales, there are more 90’s than any other model for sale.
Which,as I said in another post, was the same as when the one in my sig was sold.

As i said, there are a lot more of that model around for sale than any other.

I wonder if there were more 90 Pumas sold new, than 110's?

Funnily enough, when I was buying mine back in mid 2015 there where more new 90s available than 110s.

I suspect towards the end more 90s were bought for the novelty value by non Land Rover people, while 110s were bought by people for touring etc. I guess the novelty wears thin fairly quickly.

Cheers,
Jon

I think you’re on the money. Or they have kids abs it’s no longer useful.

For us (DINK) a 90 is perfect

I was just looking at car sales and the prices for defenders. 300tdi @ 35k+ and Td5’s @ 42k +, do they really sell for those prices?

Quite possibly if the punters have had a squiz at what 'happens', on the D3/4 forum.

What else are you going to buy?

Beam axle, 4wd pedigree, etc.

Our 2010 Puma was the hardest sale of any vehicle we've moved on. Especially it took much longer than either our 300Tdi or Td5. Now I'm wondering if the D4 will be the same.... and sweating at the thought of the morons that come to view and drive it. :(

Got a 2022/3 Defender in mind?

Not really Gavin, neither the Cook or myself are particularly fond of their looks or seating positions etc. Plus we may well look at other marques.....

And then putting up with the garbage some talk when going around looking at something to replace it...

Oh well,such is life[biggrin]

Im not getting anything else, there is nothing on the market that can replace a defender unless you spend another 40k on it.
How does it work with insurance, should I have it insured for market rate instead of agreed value?

How is the market value calculated in order to determine the market value? Any car insurance guru’s here?

Mate have a look at your insurance policy terms and conditions and policy schedule. Usually market value is defined and sometimes (often) they refer to their own appraisal guided by reputable sources such as Glasses Guide etc. But the wording of your policy is key. I have found that with some models some of the Guides undervalue. Often a valuer will look at recent sales using Carsales etc to get a good idea. Cheers

If we insure your vehicle for market value, then we assess its market value when an incident happens.
To work out the market value, we look at various things which include:
• local market prices
• your vehicle’s age and condition at the time, and
• any modifications, options or accessories that are attached to your vehicle.
The market value includes:
• GST
• registration and any CTP insurance
• other on-road costs. It does not include any allowance for dealer profit, warranty costs, any stamp duty or transfer fees

looks like market value is my best way forward. just feels risky

See the bit about dealer profit…

That means they price on wholesale. That’s a big loss in the current market.

Insurance is a bet, how lucky are you feeling? [emoji41]

Perhaps get a valuation for private market from a Registered Motor Dealer Valuer and then present that to the insurer and ask for agreed value. For that you might be better with a mob that readily do agreed value such as Shannons (but there are other considerations of course such as the terms and conditions of the policy). Cheers
