How spooky Tim, I was just about to kick another discussion off and re-post in trips as the main info seems to have dropped out of the trips calander - Josh/Inc any ideas why?
Anyway, suggestions needed for an itinerary so please give your suggestions here so I can formulate a plan before we go and post. One suggestion is we run this trip over to the Monday to give people enough time to enjoy the island and it vastness.
More details to come and please keep checking back before finalising plans as details may change at the last minute.

Hi Mick, x-box couldn’t find it either.
What I have found with this new site, is that after a given period where there are no new posts on a thread, it is automatically moved to the Archives and you then have to go looking for it.
NOTE, to get to the Archives, go to the very bottom right hand side of any page and there you will find the Archives button.
Cheers.

Can someone confirm the date for the Fraser trip please. I see two version on this site.
Can I sign up for the trip as well - at least one car if not 2 - depends if we have Josh's rangie up to speed for then.
Should have camper fitted out for then too.

Okay for those travelling up on Friday may I suggest the following:
Gold Coast convoy: Meet BP Coomera 5:30am for 6:00am departure
Brisbane Meet: Meet at the services @ Caboolture 7:30am
For anyone else will meet at Inskip point.
Could everyone advise if these times suites everyone and who is travelling in convoy and who is making their own way up there. Times of arrival will also help so we can know when to expect people.

5th September 2006, 05:20 PM
That time is basically what we did last time (or an hour later than last time i think you slack ass Bolts)... you're looking at around 4hrs travelling time so going to hit some peak hour traffic around Gympie.
I remember that even at that time of morning there was still a **** load of traffic heading over the gateway etc.

6th September 2006, 05:57 AM
I must admit I was thinking a 5am meet, heading off at 5.30 ish, that way you get onto the island earlier, able to set up and get to do some stuff. Plus my 2 slept half the way anyway :D . From memory last time we werent setting up until 2/3 in the arvo. Just my thoughts,

For all those having a go about travel time (Even though they aren't coming to frazer .......................... outlaw:nazilock:)
Yes if we are going to catch the ferry by midday and everyone else by 10:00am we need to leave the cost at 5:30am to miss all the traffic on gateway, which is why I requested names and travel times for all coming to Frazer.
So we will miss the traffic over gateway we are looking now to head off at 5:30am from BP coomera.
Will run through trip at meeting tonight if you wont be at meeting please pm me with your travel arrangments.

We put the waterproof seat covers on the D2 today just in case you wet yourself when you take it for a drive:eek:  No fancy LCD screen in this one to tell you whats going on, just some lights and buzzers and stuff. It will be a sad day when the D3 goes, but at least you'll still have a bag of fun in a D2. Look on the bright side, all the different tyre and accessory options will make up for it. Plus I can get genuine parts for you cheap. Hey I will make up a set of rock sliders for you before you pick it up so you can include them in the deal!!!. Plus I will have my diff/steering guards made as well, see its getting better already.

Hi folks, I should have posted weeks ago that I was not going.
Sorry about the late notice but I have deliberately NOT read this thread out of jealousy of those going, but wish you all the best.
One point, if you are heading to the lighthouse, CHECK THE TIDES.
When we were there last time, part of the beach north of Indian Head had been washed away by the cyclone earlier that month and we had to wait for the tide to drop before we could get passed so check it out before you go up that way or you may get stuck on the northern end of the island for a few hours.
Anyway, you all have a good weekend.
Cheers

Like the idea of getting sliders made and whacking it on finance. Yeah I will miss my gizmo mobile, but it wont be forever and having driven a D2 when Ive had the car in for servicing, I found them great, plus as you point out I will be able to modify this one more easily. Whoo hoo we will be there this time next week :D .

We plan to go up Thursday night and get a unit over night at Rainbow Beach then catch early ferry across.
Much easier day if not have to do it all in one day - that is what we did last time. If the rest not coming until 10am we will probably catch an earlier ferry as have tent to pitch so want to be set up ASAP and then explore.
So can someone advise where the group is camping on the beach?
What time is the first ferry?
Is anyone else planning to go early?
What is the tour plan on the Island? We would really like to see the lakes - not so much the top of the Island as a long drive for not much. We also plan some fishing time.
We plan to come back Sunday night as have work/school
Josh (Ringin) will probably come up Friday night - does anyone know when the last ferry goes?

I think the barges run from sunrise to sunset. If you need to confirm call them on 0418 872 599 (the barge itself) or landline 07 5486 8600 - this is for the Manta Ray (the green barge)

Hey Skiboy,
Good to see you are coming along, I know Ashton is keen to catch up with Hunter. Ok as far as am I am aware we are aiming to camp at the spot you and some of the others did last time ie up near the wrecks as it had more space and flatter, that way we should be able to have us all in the same spot. Also am keen to see lakes as we didnt see them last time, so will be first time for us. I believe an itinery will be posted sometime this week, main thing there will be an itinery. Thats all I know at this stage, but hopefully we will be on the island before lunchtime, with time for erecting tents in my case a cuppla hrs  ( thanks bolts and xbox for the helping hand in advance :D ) and get some fishing and some exploring in the arvo. Whoo hoo folks 5 MORE SLEEPS TO GO :D

We have a camper on the trailer now so hopefully set up is reduced. Have not fully set up the trailer yet so this is sort of a trial to make a list and get welding for our Xmas Moreton trip.
Look forward to the itinerary

Hi Keith
Should be no problems camping where we were last time as it is not school holidays. The reason for haeding back there is its nice and flat and we can get all campers and tents on site.
Will be onto Mantaray now to get price for club and will post back.
Seeing as you will be there before all of us can you stay on ch33 and listen out for us will call you up when in the area should be there about lunch time.

It is quick and easy follow the steps through it will ask where we are camping just go to beach and other areas. For me for 2 people plus vehicle permit for 2 nights was $54.00.
Barge fees will be paid for on the barge by everyone at $60.00 per vehicle, please bring cash along.(Trailers are free)

No good mate, they don't even allow Brazziers or similar. Anything with a naked flame of 'fire' they don't like.

12th September 2006, 10:54 AM
To Clarify : it needs to be "self contained"
Are fires permitted?
Open campfires are only permitted in the fire rings provided at Waddy Point and Dundubara campgrounds. Campers wishing to use these fire rings must supply their own clean, untreated, milled timber for firewood.
Fully self-contained heating and cooking appliances may be used at all campgrounds (unless a Total Fire Ban is in place). They must be off the ground (recommended minimum height is 200mm). These appliances must use only manufactured fuel such as heat beads. Bush timber or timber off cuts must not be used. Appliances that are not fully self-contained, such as braziers, are not permitted. All appliances, materials and fuels (e.g. heat beads) must be removed from the national park on departure.

I also have one of these you guys can borrow if you like but you will need to get gas for it.
I've rigourously and scientifically tested them, although the control group was adversely affected by cigars and jameson's!!!
Just spat coffee on my monitor reading that:D :D :D
Gutted I'm missing yet another classic trip plus I have yet to see Fraser.......will hopefully make Fraser Part 3.

Hey All,
Am back, buggered, just finishing off unpacking the car, so either later or tomorrow will write up a trip report and post some pics as am sure some of the other attendees will as well. Summing it up in short though "Bloody fantastic time and people" plus a huge amount of laugher, and a trip that had everything hey "Nanna Bolts" :D ( story to come on that one)
Regards
