[bigsad] Just advising that with a heavy heart that I'm pulling the pin on selling parts. My illness has progressed where I am quite a bit of pain daily and my inability to communicate with speech is becoming more prevelant..
I now need nurses to attend to assist with daily activities at home.
I have been approach by a couple of people asking if I would sell the business.
I declined the offer.
Heather and I have spent tireless hours on the business and have a good rapport with our customers and had customer loyalty and many have become friends over the years and as we respect their privacy by not giving out their private details.
We have been clearing stock over the past year and still have a little remaining on ebay.
Wish to thank those here on Aulro who have been supportive over the years and those that have been a shoulder to cry on during the difficult times.
thank you Mario.
Ps ditto from Heather, Thank you guys for listening to my rants as well. You guys mean so much to us

I for one would offer that if the business were for sale, I'd have NO issue with my details being passed along, I get emailed every day by business's I've dealt with, it's common place these days, maybe others here would have a view on this also?
Whatever happens from here, thanks for your help along the way.

Oh John you big Teddy bear we love too, you've had a bad trot yourself but you find kindness and compassion for others. You have a genuine heart of gold mate.
i had a bad day yesterday extreme pain going through my muscles, it start Thursday and kept going until this afternoon. One set off muscles would cramp in one direction and the muscles that should be releasing didn't they pulling like a tug of war in the opposite direction. I take endone during the day as need and endep in the evening to help me sleep through it, and the doc prescribed valium to take when needed hoping it would relax the muscles, but it doesn't. Getting personal care is difficult because of covid and the must be vaccinated, I had a local nurse who I has happy with ,but she told the agency that she was worried hurting herself due to my physical size. Fair enough , she was an older lady and says she had trouble wheeling my commode from the bedroom to the bathroom over the carpet. something Heather does every day. The company are coming again to see if they can suitable for my needs. I had support workers before but unfortunately the culture differences and having a one sided conversation with myself for 4 hrs at a time. They also weren't vaxed so a greater risk for me.

We had the OT back yesterday, to address the problems for safe transfers. l have a ceiling fitted hoist in the bedroom this solves the the issue of hoisting me out of bed to my commode, this helps me to be moved to the toilet and shower. but after shower and getting dressed there is the issue of transferring to my lounge chair or to my powered wheel chair.
Until recently l could stand with assistance and shuffle my feet to move the other aids, but now being unable to stand upright and unable to shuffle its difficult to safely transfer from one to another. We do use a slide board but that involves Heather Bear hugging me , keeping her back straight and using the power of her legs to lift me in stages along the board. Due to the individual leg rests on my power chair which are also long are in the way and a slide board can't be used.
The only alternative is some sort of portable lifting device to accomplish this.
other wise I have to be wheeled back to the bedroom get hoisted off the commode , left dangling whilst the commode is removed from the room then some one has to disengage the 2 drive levers from the motors underneath the chair to put the in free spool so it can be manually pushed to the bedroom, place it underneath me so l can be lowered on to that.
The chair is very heavy and is difficult to steer. And it doesn't solve the lounge room chair transfer. So the OT is going to arrange an in home trial of a couple of portable lilting devices and liaise with my neuro physio.

Hi I don't know if you have read article about Mario condition. He has MSA (Multiple system atrophy)
This is terminal, people with this can expect life 6 to 10 years and his doctor think that he is in his 5th year last year. The best way I can explain it is like Parkinson but not, it is faster.
So after running the business for 15 years, it time to have a rest and spend time with family. Heather

Just to let you know how Mario is traveling, well we have support coming in 4 mornings a week now. Nurse next door are looking at to increasing 2 support workers coming per day to look after Mario so it frees me up to do some thing else. With only one coming in I would still be helping. They want to get a permanent team going that Mario feel happy with and they know the routine. The ladies that we have coming in at the moment we are very happy with and they will be part of the team. As now his voice is getting really hard for me to understand now. We are using the ceiling hoist in the bedroom, and a hired mobile hoist to lift him on his chair in the lounge room. We are waiting on NDIS to approve the money to buy a mobile hoist. Thanks again guys. Heather

We got an phone call from our support manager that helps us with NDIS. She had good news for us , that NDIS has approved the money for the mobile hoist that we want. So now I can get Mario in to his armchair safely, and get him in to his wheel chair. As the one we have hired is a bit heavy for me to move but I do move it, and it is a bit hard for me to get him in this wheel chair. Also because it has been approved it has caused a light touch on his plan, so the money reset it self. So know we have money to get more support workers in. So we can get 2 per shift as the money is there now. It will free up some time for me to do other things, like I am in the middle of doing up one of my sons room for me. Just finished pulling up the old carpet.

With all the heavy rain my lifts emergency phone rang the lift emergency number constantly they would answer then hang up. then it would auto dial ten again. this happened all day and only stopped when my prepaid sim card ran out of credit at approx 6 pm.
Lift techs could not come they were stuck on in Geelong .The tech rang Heather and told her how to remove a panel and disconnect a wire to stop it.
He told how to remove a certain panel and unplug a wire to stop it.
Then we found out the lift is suitable for outside but the emergency call system button and mic system is not. It is not water proof. So the next day they came out with a new emergency call system box to replace the broken one.
And this one isn't water proof, all the call boxes are not water proof. So Heather has taped plastic over it ti stop any water getting in.

That is terrible Heather. Mario's has been let down several time now by shocking management. Trying to help is ok, I can excuse parks Vic hoist not being the correct height to lift him out of his chair during what was a trial. The OT's and others need retaining on what they can do and what they need to consider before they arrange what is clearly very dangerous if it fails. Room to take it back? Shove it out on the street and call me if you need a hand to move it:bat:

3rd May 2022, 09:48 PM
Well the OT and the guy from the company came out today. At the first trial we used one model, which worked really good, but due to Mario weight and being so tall it took him over the weight recommendation for that hoist, and it had smaller wheel which was harder to use on carpet and I had to manually open the legs of the hoist. I don't know why he bought that one in the first place. The second trail a week later he bought out one for Mario weight and height, which has remote control which opens the legs and bigger wheel for the carpet. So they worked out it was the sling that was the problem to holding him right. So change the sling and he is going to bring in another sling to try as well. So after all the hoisting and mucking around this afternoon has worn Mario out. So when everyone left I had to put him in to bed. This is what I have noticed over the last couple of months, when he has a big day it does take a lot out of him this is because the MSA taking a little bit more of him. Heather

The lift phone got replaced with another one the same as the one that suffered water . The repairman told Heather the lift is an out side lift but the phone isn't
He keeps telling the company that the phones are not waterproof but the still send them out,
Today an invoice arrives for $1608 replacement exactly the as the one that got water damaged.
Of the $1600 , $300 was a service call and the balance was the phone.

Well our support manager that is helping us, got on to the lift company about the bill. As the call phone was only put in before christmas and it would still be under warranty.
They look in to and and have came back saying that it is under warranty. So we dont have pay for the unit but we still have to pay the call out fee of $300+ gst. Our OT came out today and she is going to get on to the lift
company why have they install a call phone that is not water proof as it is an out door lift. It is only going happen again with winter coming, we are supposed to have one because the lift is over 1.5 mt high. If worst comes to worst I can discontent it,as the tech guy over the phone told me how to do it when it was playing up by dialing out all the time. And it can just look good there, because if it does it again and it is out of warranty we will be up for 1300 for a new one.

Yesterday the magnet door safety sensor wouldn't sense the door was closed so it wouldn't run the lift, until Heather pushed the upright closer to the door so the sensor pick up each other. Ttoday the lift was phantom ringing again so Heather went out and open the box on the outside of the lift and pulled out the plug on it, we had it taped with plastic no water got in the front must be the box behind.
