Good Evening.
Anyone shed light on the extra numbers /2, /4 on my rear Diff Pinion bearings.
53 80 Inch S1.
Sure new ones wont have it...

Some bearings used to have a marking system to show the tolerance when it was assembled.
Probably assembled, then it was checked for 'play' and given a mark to indicate the tolerance.
From memory it was a O, OO or OOO almost polished on rather than stamped earlier in production.
I'll have to try and google the details but maybe this is a tolerance mark ?

POHMS on S1,S2 and LR UK Forums have no Idea.
Timkin Australia have no Idea.
Taking at work today....Wondered if Radius Ground 2 and 4 Thou to allow for heat expansion ???? In Casing fit.
New bearings don't have it. Or Similar as bore block. Hone and Graded piston to match.
