I think this may have been discussed before - have done a search but no luck.....
Who do you recommend (based on experience) as a UK supplier, either for parts which are hard to get in Australia or just because they are much cheaper - I'm looking for a supplier who doesnt mind shipping to here, is reliable and prompt and doesn't charge a fortune for postage, and preferably with a decent on-line catalogue.

G'day Mark2:)
Here are a few of the bigger ones that ship world wide. www.paddockspares.com (http://www.paddockspares.com) and johncraddockltd.co.uk or www.dls-uk.co.uk (http://www.dls-uk.co.uk) they are all well known and have been around a long time, or it may be worthwhile buying a copy of Landrover Enthusiast Magazine or Landrover Monthly at your local newsagent or he could order one in for you.

Mmm, i hadn't stopped to look at these prices before really. How long would it take to get bits here?
As i'm doing my clutch soon I was looking at prices (excluding VAT because it's being sent Overseas unless I mistaken).
Four wheel drives melb and paddock spares compared
9 1/2 clutch plate $82.50 vs 22.50 gbp
9 1/2 clutch pressure plate $132 vs 26.81 gbp
approx $215 vs 50 gbp (plus postage). that equates to about $150 plus postage. that's a fair difference in price!! (plus say another $30 in fees maybe, anybody know for sure ?)

Usually I find that if they (UK) get off their dates, it's apx. a week.
Don't forget, you may get done for GST when your parcel arrives here as well as possibly Customs charges.
I suppose it depends on it's value & whether you make a welter of it. I have heard different stories. Some do, some don't.
Good luck with your decision.:)
PS. Prices from Aussie Stealers for the replacement trim pins to hold the rear door card on were A$3 each. UK .62cents each + postage. Still a lot less expensive.
I got sufficient for busted ones (different) for my side doors as one day they will prob. need replacing & all up was still a lot less than Oz.

Paddocks, prices are good but service is ****!!!
If you are getting anyting sent, ask them to send via Royal Mail - will take longer but if the declared value is less than $1,000 then no GST / Duty whereas if its by courier then over $250? then you have to pay GST / Duty / Courier admin charges!!!

If you import less that $1,000 worth and it arrives by post, then there is no tax.
When I imported parabolic springs, they landed at the airport terminal (valued at $600) and I had to pay taxes & charges for them, plus clear them through customs. Anticipate several hours to clear a straight forward package through customs, or about $200 for a customs agent to do it.

 So Royal Mail seems to be the way to go then, so it goes through Postal Customs.
Thank s for that tip, HTH. I must have just struck it lucky that things have come RM.:)

Mate try these two.
Great prices, fast shipping and not too expensive.. And ASK for combined postage they give it for lot less postage if you buy a few things..
BTW John Craddock is useless, worse service..
LR Series :

The Land Rover Orphanage

These are the only two I deal with now.
In future I will try the Aus dealers (NON stealers) again after I asked on the forums this week. Will see how it goes...
Cheers
