Morning All

I intend to install LED indicators and sidelights to my Series3 Game. I've boughts some LEDs that come with a fitting (see attachments) which I believe are those used on some (perhaps tdi?) Defenders.

If possible I'd like to use the existing (male) connectors in which case I need to source the equivalent female attachments to attach to the wiring loom of the Game. So my questions are:

1. What are these connectors called?
2. Can they be sourced anywhere?

If the answer to 2 is 'No', then I'll probably cut the existing connectors off and use Deutsch connectors instead, but being a lazy soul, if I can avoid the extra work I'd like to use the existing male attachments as supplied on the LEDs.

Thanks

Michael

the LR part number is STC1188.

Used on Defenders from somewhere mid 90's onwards.

Another source for connectors is RS Components.

This is the link to Automotive Connectors:

Buy automotive connectors online from RS Components (https://au.rs-online.com/web/c/'sra=oss&r=t&searchTerm=automotive+connectors)

Good luck.

That looks like a far better option, buy a quality item that isnt the land rover price.

You might have to reverse the polarity. I had to do so on my defenders.

Thanks everyone, both for the pointers to suppliers and the advice regarding potentially having to reverse polarity.

Greatly appreciated - and highlights how excellent Aulro is, especially for those of us on the never ending learning curve of Land Rover ownership!

The stock ones are $5 each so not expensive and they are plug and play with the old stock harness. They all come from the same factory.

if you mean STC1188
then no, the britpart, bearmach ones are round that $5 and are rubbish made in china, poorly made, break, full apart before even using them.

The genuine are made in U.K expensive, but fit correctly. Hence my original comment

TE Connectivity is a Swiss and US company founded in the US during WW2. Originally AMP then later Tyco.

They have nothing to do with the UK. They are all the same pieces. Nobody is making copycats. They have more lawyers than Britpart has employees.

I’m also not sure where you are getting this strange feeling they are expensive. You can get Econoseal connectors at any electrical parts supplier and there is no way you would spend over $5 per connector.

You simply didnt read what I typed....
*I posted the Land Rover part number STC1188.
*Then someone else posted a link to an electrical parts supplier, which I thought was a better option than the Land Rover STC1188.
*If you use the Land Rover part number to source that female plug STC1188, then you have:
*Britpart, Bearmach both made in china, both ****, I've tried them, the pins pop out or the tab snaps off before you even get to use them, round $5.00 each, no surprise.
*Land Rover genuine STC1188 is $46 each, yes again Ive had to use them, but at least there is no additional labour to repair before using it.

So this all comes from the same factory is rubbish. I'm not sure where you get this strange feeling that parts don't get copied and produced on the cheap.
