Aren't the Sydney Expo Mob seeing him on Sunday?

Actually the great thing about meeting Ron (apart from his wit) is that when you have a conversation with him your spelling skills aren't put to the test.

We both have something in common, we got the cane together the other week.
I tried to provoke him in the mud pit the other night

Nothing, not one comment from him

you've got to admit that is rare

That depends on the day that you are here. If it is a Saturday or Sunday, then you can wave all you like, I won't be here!

And I'm off again.

Tomorrow, err, this afternoon, Elisabeth and I will be boarding the Indian Pacific train in Sydney, New South Wales for an overnight 1400km trip to Adelaide, South Australia where we'll change to The Ghan for the 3000 km trip from Adelaide to Darwin, Northern Territory, Gold Kangaroo (First Class) all the way - see http://www.gsr.com.au/ (http://www.gsr.com.au/)

Elisabeth and I did the Nullabor Plain crossing from Port Augusta to Perth by train (the Trans Australian - the precursor to the Indian Pacific) back in 1970 when my employer transferred me from Ceduna Satellite Earth Station (now Ceduna Radio Observatory http://www-ra.phys.utas.edu.au/physics_ceduna.html (http://www-ra.phys.utas.edu.au/physics_ceduna.html)) to Carnarvon Satellite Earth Station http://www.flickr.com/photos/devar/17578259/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/devar/17578259/) and where Elisabeth worked at the NASA tracking station http://www.windsong.demon.co.uk/jottings/apollo.html (http://www.windsong.demon.co.uk/jottings/apollo.html). Actually, we also did it three times by car in the days when the crossing was a dirt road - all in our Hillman Hunter Royal 660 http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/thebecketts/hillman/660.htm (http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/thebecketts/hillman/660.htm) - in those days the track beside the road was actually smoother than the road so we travelled on it. The temperatures were in the mid-40's (Celsius) and we had no air conditioning. Heck, in those days, cars in Australia were lucky to even be fitted with heaters!

When we get to Darwin next Tuesday, we'll stay overnight at the Novatel then pick up the Mercedes camper van http://www.britz.com.au/home/Page.aspx?page_id=813 (http://www.britz.com.au/home/Page.aspx?page_id=813) to spend a week touring the Top End before returning to Darwin for a week. Then we'll fly back to Sydney.

So I'll see (?) you all in two weeks. I'm sure you'll all be feeling sorry for me! I'll think of you, too. :)

Oi! I'm not Superman!

We enjoyed the trip and we haven't filed for divorce!

Re pix - none that match Noddy's for quality or interest.

I did see a Camel Trophy 110 (reg CAM-1 I think) several times in Darwin yesterday but I didn't have my camera. It had its British rego plate in the side window but I didn't note the number.

I met another bloke in Kakadu who had a Td5 110 Extreme and whose fuel pump had started making bad noises. He was hoping to get to somewhere to get it fixed.
