Farewell to the bong of doom!
Having fitted an XLifter (https://www.xlifter.com/), I wasn't keen on the little box and trying to velcro it somewhere useful.
As it happens, it sits neatly in the oval box in the centre console.

Enter 3D printing, and a bunch of options on the XLifter accessories page (https://www.xlifter.com/xlifter-accessories/) ...

I don't have a 3D printer, and found this bloke, John, on Airtasker. He gave me some great advice about materials - using ABS instead of PETG. Apparently ABS is better for the Aussie heat. He's got a very good setup, based in Melbourne, and great with service and pricing. If you need something printed, you can contact him at hackbotprinting@gmail.com.

Fitting the mount required pulling out the centre console to check where I could drill a small hole for the wiring, then tapping into one of the ignition-switched cig lighter sockets for power. Easy done. I also included a couple of joiners in case I want to remove it, or power it off. (A micro Molex type would have been neater, but I didn't have the crimp tool or the patience!). A wrap of electrical tape keeps it snug. There was the tiniest bit of play from the original print, which I'd put down to heat and flex distortion of the oval box over time. If you're printing your own, you could tweak the design a bit.

One thing I've noticed about the display on the XLifter - it's affected by polarising lenses. If you're looking at mounting options, you may want to play with a few alternative positions to check visibility. Likewise the gear shifter. Mine's a 6-speed and when in Park, the view is slightly obscured, but perfectly fine in Neutral.
