Hopefully to raise a smile

There is a lot of serious stuff going on in the world today. I am going to give a slight diversion to this. I am in no way trying to lessen the suffering and hardship of those involved but this might bring a brief smile to someone's face.
We were at the doctor with our daughter who has special needs, to get blood taken to check her health and to see if her medication needed to be modified. So there was the doctor tapping away at a blood vein to get it to come up so as she could insert the needle. Things were not going to plan. The vein was steadfastly refusing to come up. Turned out the "vein" was a mark from a blue felt tip pen. My daughter had been colouring in the waiting room....

My veins can see the needle coming and disappear. Most times end up with both arms jabbed multiple times before they strike a gusher. Perhaps I should draw one on as a distraction so they have a better chance of getting it first time

Last time that happened to me I was told "you are dehydrated, go away, drink half a litre of water, and come back". It worked - perhaps partly because her shift ended and I got a different vampire!

My wife has to drink 2 L of water on the way to blood suckers , If Rachel the Indian nurse isn't there she won't have any blood taken , she get's it 1st go every time, all the others just use her for a pin cushion & she ends up with holes in booth arms & they get no blood

I get blood taken often due to several chronic diseases I've collected. I have this drain pipe in my left arm that has the phlebotomists aroused every time.

One of my medical instructions is to drink 4 litres of water every day, A very big job (try it), but it does make the red stuff flow well

I have to drink before i go as well.

I dont get my blood taken very often,but when i do,i find the young nurses have no hope getting it,where the older ones seem to have no problems.

I wonder if the Senior/Older nurses would give you a clip under the lughole & call you a wuss if you complained?


The young ones are too scared to.


Stabbing for blood seems to come with experience imho.



I had an older woman from one of the Collection Agencies take blood every day for about a week. It was 0600, semi dark & she got it in one every time. Apparently it had to be taken early for some reason.
Yeah thats right, I was crook.[biggrin] She may have been a Retired Nurse for all I know.
