Howdy,

I have an Australian assembled 1968 Series IIa 88 SWB

After gently poking it with a screw driver and finding filler on top of rust, I’m now well into a drivers side footwell and door pillar replacement job.

I have a YRM replacement door pillar and the top hinge holes just don’t line up no matter what I do. Photo below
What I’d like to know, before I get the welder out, is it my vehicle that is different, or the new replacement door pillar that’s not right.

How far above the waist line / crease should the top door hinge holes be?
Mine look to be a nice even 1 inch and 3 inches, is this normal?

Measuring with the hinges in place I see :-

1. Crease to bottom bolt centre 25mm on one car, 28mm on another. But note that the mounting of the captive nuts allows some movement for adjustment

2. The holes are, as you surmise, exactly 2" apart.

Thanks John.

The 1 inch up and 2 inch spacing feels like it’s by design and not coincidence.

The holes in new pillar from YRM are out by at least half an inch.
I’ve emailed YRM in the UK to ask them why they think the new pillar doesn’t match.
