G’day,

With all the rain in Sydney at the moment, I’ve started to notice a water puddle on the drivers side under the rubber mat. The carpet is soaking wet and there’s a decent size gathering of water. Just noticed yesterday when I drive, I can hear water somewhere around the bottom of the driver’s door moving around.

When I open the driver side rear door, there’s been a collection of water which falls on the floor which I have no idea where it has accumulated. This has been going on for some time. Didn’t think much of it as all rubber seals have been checked and they’re good.

I don’t think the smell is going to be good when this rain stops. Any ideas where else I should be looking?

Sunroof drains and windscreen cowling are usual suspects, we had a big down pour Friday night and I had a puddle in the passenger side which I'm drying out.

do you have sunroof? It has a drain pipe that runs down the drivers side A pillar I believe and is very easily clogged. when it does water will pool in the drivers foot well.

ok, no sunroof, so will take a look at the cowling… when the rain stops… it’s relentless!

Seals on the A pillar fasteners can be a source of leaks

Just watched the vid. Very helpful. Thank you

There's a possibility that the scuppers up next to the windscreen, either side of the car, may be blocked with leaves. If this happens, water falling on (the bonnet, the windscreen) in major downpours or injudicious fording can have water enter the cabin via the air-intake at the centre next to the windscreen. I got caught out like this a couple of years ago with my FL2, but a friend with a Disco2 looked at me askance and said, "everybody knows that!" (Except the local Land Rover dealer...)
I'd been accidentally cleaning them with a high-pressure hose without ever recognising them as scuppers for years. Then I didn't go anywhere or clean the car for a while and got caught out.

The other, albeit less likely issue can be if an aftermarket replacement windscreen has been fitted, there were some screens that were thinner, not allowing the lower cowling rubber edge to seat correctly. This lets the water runnoff from the screen directly into the fresh air intake.

I've had 3 windscreens now, the second one was done under insurance claim, and I noticed a 1mm gap to the lower cowling sealing rubber, plus the rain sensor did not work correctly. Replaced with genuine no questions asked. No leaks into the cabin

Seals on the A pillar fasteners can be a source of leaks

Yes and there was a LR tech advisory on this a few years back - where the A pillar plastic cover clips on water runs down and into the A pillar then into the foot wells. I had this issue a few years back - was only the passenger side in my case.

I took the A pillar cover off, and put gaffer tape over all the holes in the pillar. Where the protrusions on the inside of the cover clips into the pillar I covered this area with silastic then put the cover back on - the sealant seals around the holes when it dries.

No had a water issue since.

Oh - certainly WindScreen Obriens know of this and when they replace the windscreen when they reinsert the pillar covers using new clips they also used sealant where the cover clips onto the pillar.

After removing any moisture and dying out the carpet i went looking for the leak, found one of the front drain tubes was blocked.
Poked trimmer line down about a meter until it stopped which is close to the elbow join, removed the flare and a few clips to drop the arch liner down enough to get my hand up to the exit point. Looks like it has been replaced before since it doesn't have the X shaped duckbill that every online pic shows, managed to get a small stick and poke in til water ran out so i'm calling that a win.
