On my way past newcastle and car went into restricted performance

We are towing a van an have limped to a caravan park but have to move Friday
I have contacted local lr and they will look at tomorrow

I have a gap tool but not sure how to use it properly
A number of codes came up but the latest one around when we got the problem was
P0D10 Mass or volume airflow B - circuit High

Any ideas on what this is and how to fix it

Richard

Where exactly are you?

It will be a P010D error. Chances are one MAF has failed or has a poor connection. I would swap the two MAFs and see if the code then changes to indicate circuit A. If so the MAF is faulty. If it stays as circuit B there is probably a wiring issue.

We are in Belmont Lakeside caravan park

Had NRMA. Come out

He cleared coded but they came back
He did pull one out and clean it but may have done wrong one,

Swapping around as suggested would have been a good test

Wish I read that before nrma came

Richard

Ps I had to engage him to be eligible for the tow and other benefits I pay for

Many thanks will check out

I was able to get codes out of gap tool, I think 😀
They matched nrma guy so probably right
Sourcing a new sensor may be the issue.

Total pain as was heading north for my sons 40th birthday.

Having problems seems to follow me at moment, last outing I got a split rim on my van.

If Lr can’t help at big $ I may just have a go myself at replacing the sensor

Then I probably will have new problems to worry about.

Can you drive to All 4x4 in Kotara - they may be able to help you out.

The car can be driven slowly, easier without van I reckon. It sometimes picks up but goes off ic you have to stop.

The nrma guy mentioned them.

If lr guys can’t help I had planned to try and go there to source the sensor at least.

If I get desperate I will have a go at replacing it myself. Not keen but May have to.

It would be good to do the swap test mentioned above beforehand though

I had the same problem last month.
good news is simple to fix with a replacement part part which I know is Avaiable at All 4x4 kotara near you.
the car has two mass air flow sensors.
the B circuit sensor is the one closest to the front of the car.
just replace with the new part. Car should work like before the incident.
the A circuit MAF reads the flow fir the second turbo and does less work. When you get home your like to replace this.
good luck.

When you say Lr who exactly do you mean?? I hope it is not the LR dealer in Bennents Green/Gateshead - I would be going to All4x4.

The one I went to was at Bennett Green

Is there a problem with them?

Been looking at what part I may have to get

Not sure but think NRMA guy pulled out MAP sensor not MAF sensor

The problem I have is with MAF I believe?

Just watched a video re resolving my problem and the nrma guy definitely pulled out the wrong bit
He was looking at the MaP sensor

If you need and cannot get a new MAF sensor, I have a new spare in Melbourne. [bigsmile1]

Well hot car back from Hunter Landrover
It was the Maf sensor B

The replaced it and all seems ok. Will start towing again tomorrow, to late to start off today.

It wss not a cheap repair as part being an original LR part is expensive topped off with a couple of hour labour doing tests and replacement

I had ring ALl 4x4 but they said they did not have the part and had never stocked it so they we not an option.

I would like to say something about Hunter LR.
I like many of you have moved away from the dealers

It was a bit expensive as used original parts but the fact they fitted me in on the day before Easter when they already had a full list of work was a credit to them and sure saved my bacon as I would have been stuffed if they didn’t as I had no where to go or could go Friday. The people I dealt with very helpful and sympathetic to my situation. I doubt I would have got that at some other places.
So in this case thumbs up for the dealers and as it turned out in this case I did not have many options

Thanks all for input and advice

Richard

Glad you got it sorted and the dealer looked after you.

Thanks all again

Not knowing where else I could go the dealers were my best option.
They also had the part I required which was not the case with the alternative posted here.

When you get an alert like this while on the road you have to make a decision of what to do and where to go.
If not Easter and school holidays I probably would have more options and time to find out.

It cost a fair bit but in the end I believe they did right by me and my best choice under the circumstances

They even dropped me back to the caravan park and picked me up later to get the car. Small thing but made it easier

Once again thanks all for help and support

Richard
