Note that you've been quoted 12mo delivery straight up.

Will this make it a MY23, or 24...? And what, if any, are commercial implications I wonder?

I ordered last month, was given Nov22 delivery... seemed optimistic (a sales ploy?) so didn't pay it a lot of attention, and sure enough, now saying March 2023 (i.e. 12 months)

And hence I wonder if mine is also pushing MY24 territory...?

With regards to delivery time there was no over-promising in my case...I guess the sales people are sick of under-delivering.

There are some commercial implications:

What you've specified might not be delivered and the price is subject to change. The first clause in the sales contract is an exit clause...if you don't like what the final offer is you can exit without penalty!

The other interesting aspect is that what you specify in the online build won't necessarily be available: for instance the larger TFT screen is no longer offered and the Matrix headlights are no longer an option on the SE model.

Oh well well see what happens!

I ordered my 90 last Anzac Day weekend..and looks like Ill pick it up next week, from what I can gather Ive gained all the MY22 upgrades at no cost, so the delay has been made a little better, but initial delivery was September 21 so Ive sort of given up and actually cant remember what I picked..

... so Ive sort of given up and actually cant remember what I picked..

this is also my coping strategy... I picked model, colour, and a few essential weapons... the rest is details and will probably feel less significant when/if the car is ever delivered

I guess my previous point about model years was really about the likely timing of the "exit point" offered - i.e. (guessing) 2 weeks or so prior to build?

For your/my situation, i.e. Mar/Apr 23 delivery in Aus, and accounting for, say, 10 weeks on the sea and 4-6 weeks laydown at either end, that would make a build date very much around the Dec 22/ Jan 23.

Is that around the time the new model year occurs?

I don't know. MY current Defender was ordered in March 2008 and delivered as a 2009 MY in late July 2008.

I don't know the significance of the change of model year: is it meant to flag a significant spec change?

Significance of model year changeover unknown, i'm just musing. At a minimum I expect a price increase and a few less semi-conductors...

still optimistic for an awesome car! : )
