Following the belief that it was possible to have the car identify different users and wondering why it would preference my wife over me whenever we got in the car (and sometimes even if it was just me in the vehicle), I fished around on the web, finding several pieces of advice to register another user within the same InControl account, thus enabling profile recognition and setting the car up with the particular driver's preferences. Turned out to be a bit of a wormhole so I contacted JLR, asking what this prompt was for in InControl:

I received the following response, "As the InControl App is a global platform, functionality varies by market. To confirm, to add additional users to the InControl App is not available for the Australian market. In relation to your InControl enquiry, we wish to confirm one user can have multiple vehicles, however one vehicle cannot have multiple users. Therefore, it is not possible to add another user to the same remote access for a vehicle. May we suggest that you create an individual profile within the infotainment screen (Pivi) and select the different profiles once in the vehicle."
Which take me back to square one. Having done as JLR suggests, the car still preferences my wife over me, regardless of who is in the driver's seat and even when my phone is physically plugged into the system and her's is not. The only way to switch to the correct profiles is manually whenever we get in the car as JLR suggest. My wife thinks this hilarious and that car likes her more than me.
Any thoughts?
