I am wondering if any one has seen this before. I have removed the door card and when you push the window up it does wind up ok. I am thinking that the end of the track is damaged. I'll pull out the regulator tomorrow, weather permitting.

The nylon wheel/s are broken. Search this section for a cheap flyscreen roller fix.

The regulator was new about 4 years ago!!

I had one where it did a similar thing.. if you pushed the window up by hand a little, it worked fine too.
Turned out the motor/winder gear were stripped a little.
Used a better motor off another regulator .. all good.

So whilst you check the regulator nylons too, also check the gears too.

I would check whether the regulator arm assembly is tight onto the motor.
They can work loose over time and the gears fall out of mesh. Ditto the motor to the door.

As you can see in the image, the cog on the motor has, over time, chewed into the metal. Not a lot, but enough.

What it needs, I think is a kiss with a welder, to build up the surface.

I may be wrong but to me the problem is that the arm has been replaced on the motor in the wrong place and the gears have exceeded their limit. You have to calculate where the old arm is in number of teeth when you replace the arm , which you cannot do as the thing has not been put on correctly last time.
This may be because the roller has died and the window has gone lower over time.

This unit was installed about 3-4 years ago. The rollers are fine. The motor stops when the regulator can't move, i.e. at the end of the track. The increase in current is noticed by the BCU which cuts the power.

I'll be honest, these days if theres an issue with the window I just replace both regulator & motor. Saves time and chasing issues diagnosing if its the window motor or regulator buggered. $250 i think it cost me last time.
