Have a look at “Tough to forge” digital driver’s license is… easy to forge | Ars Technica (https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2022/05/digital-drivers-license-used-by-4m-australians-is-a-snap-to-forge/)

Digital security can be a lot better than paper security. Any plastic or paper can be forged relatively easily and very cheaply.

Many of us use digital wallets for our credit or debit cards on our phones.
cut and paste below[B]non-custodial wallet With a non-custodial, or self-custody, wallet, you are in control of your private keys Or a custodial wallet service, a third party, such as exchanges, government perhaps?

Personally I want a Single government digital ID for for driving, fishing, medicare and several other bits jamming up my wallet.

NSW has not done it well. US states have been from 2014. Not a lot of hack reports?

This one LAW wallet is on google play (https://lawallet.com/).

Fully agree that almost all government introduced software is crap, cost more than it should and never does whats is needed in the first place [thumbsupbig] It is available off the shelf so to speak Thales version (https://www.thalesgroup.com/en/markets/digital-identity-and-security/government/driving-licence/digital-driver-license)
Turning of NFC and Bluetooth when not needed is a 101 rulz for security

it may be forged but if a police officer scans your licence he/she will see immediately that it's forged and from that point you can't go home.....

Wonder if they knew about this, instead of reinventing the wheel.

When they first issued digital High Risk Work License's in Victoria they were quickly proven to be insecure and easily forged.

They have beefed up security now.

What's wrong with my current, credit card sized licence? It has all the endorsements on it, including marine.
Why the need for a digital one?

The teenagers in our house don't wear watches and don't have wallets, they find the NSW one useful

Is it recognised in other states? Initially it wasn't.

I used my NSW digital licence for ID recently in Tasmania and it was accepted.

WA has recently been advertising that "ServicesWA" will be bringing in the same, plus other ID's etc to their website. At present, we use the website for proof of vaccination and for G2G pass before it became obsolete. Pretty soon everything will be on the phone. I use Apple Pay on the iPhone and apple watch, and the number of things that can be added to this is increasing all the time. I suppose the downside is that if it is ever hacked, somebody will have just about all my information in the one place.

I fixed the typo for you.

A friend was pick pocketed and lost their phone. Trouble was they had their credit cards and train tickets on the phone. Now 200 miles from home no phone , cash or ID as also had driver’s license tucked into back of phone in the case

Folding and hard licence can't be hacked. Work in a power or communication blackout perfectly too.

They don't not use the word "hack" on folding or hard copy.

They use the word "forge". lol

If they forge it, my originals still work. If they hack them, the digitals may disappear or stop working.

I run all my endorsements on my devices.
Unmatched convenience.

If I lost my wallet someone has it all (and can use it)
If I lose my phone - it’s wiped and bricked in minutes.

If the issuer of your folding / cards is hacked - you may find you’re no longer endorsed/have money/alive (in govt eyes)… just sayin’ [emoji41]

I'm too old, too unimportant and too broke to give a rat's.
