Discovery 3 gearbox help

I have a 2006 SE Discovery 3 and I am after some help on the gearbox.

When i went away with my caravan the car started having problem changing gears going up hill and came up with a gear box fault.

I took the Car to an LR specialist in Sydney who sugested that I should blank the EGR which I Agreed to, He stated that there is a jerk in the gearbox and said that he could do a flash but that could also make the problem worse.

I am sure this has happened with other Discovery 3 and am wondering what could be a solution to this problem.

And do you know what fault code was retrieved?
