New to braid and bottom bashing……and trolling. Bean a land based fisherman to date.
Over the next few months I’ll have plenty of opportunity……
What’s the best knot for the following.
Braid to Mono trace/lease for bottom bashing
Braid to the swivel on SS trace/ leader for lures
The knots on mono trace where the sinker hangs from the bottom and the hooks sits higher……
Maybe I should have play attention of the charter the other days, but they were super keen to bait my hook and change the rigs over.

Braid to Mono quick and easy. Works with leader for Tuna for me

Braid to Swivel or hooks!
I test on my rods knots and lines with a scale tied to the fence and pull like heck to break the first one! That gives me knowledge on how much drag I can use as will as checking if I stuff up [biggrin]
The Double Palomar knot is my go too most of the time with larger fish.

Don't forget a report, or two and some pics in the fishing section, K.

Hi Weeds
Do a search on FG Knot
A great technique is that tied / shown by Matt
On YouTube Pelagic Pursuit
Learn it good and honestly it does everything you need and is super strong and casts beautifully.
I use it for everything from Barra 30lb braid to 45-80lb leader - bottom bashing pe6/8/10 braid to 80-110lb leader and also for all lure fishing on the reef (similar ratings as bottom gear)
For your wire needs when trolling - even for XOS Mackie and Wahoo I much prefer a short wire leader with as small a target as possible
So from the leader which is FG to braid tie on a small black BB swivel then haywire some 60/80lb single strand wire - maybe 20cm long max - haywire to lure.
But you’ll get way more hits without wire so I’ll often tie lure direct to leader and apply some skill and keep the pointy bits away from leader ;)
