I was not going to bother about mudflaps until I had to spend hours delicately removing road tar form my truck. I then had a comic/frustrating time dealing with a provider(over 2 months) for front and rear mudflaps for my D4 (build 2015, painted guards). Parts going back and forth until i tapped out and sought a refund. Any tips on who I should try to get a set that actually fits.

I have cracked the rigid plastic mudguards too many times to remember so I just had a friend bring back a set of TuffRok D4 mudflaps from the UK. Unfortunately their postage quote to Australia was more than the cost of the mudflaps so unless you know someone to help you out they're not really economical. Other people have trimmed a set of generic/basic Repco/SCA mudflaps to suit/fit (which was going to be my backup).

I fitted Discovery 1 front mud flaps to the front, and Defender 90 rear mud flaps to the rear. The rears need cutting to get round the exhaust pipes. I followed Scott’s (Username LRD414 on here) how to when I did mine https://scotthumphris4.wixsite.com/trips/land-rover-discovery there is a lot of good info/ideas there.

Tuffroks are really the ones to get. I’ve traveled many outback roads including recently 1000km of dirt from Adelaide - Innamincka - Arkaroola - Adelaide and I’ve had zero issues. Can’t suggest them highly enough

I did the same as Kelvo and they've lasted just over 5 years now with no problems. Wasn't expensive to get them out here from the UK either.

I have the D1/Defender combo, works unbelievably well. Have just done several hundred Kms on gravel and mud, car and van unbelievably clean.

It is now! I was looking at new mudflaps also (for D3) and looked at tuff rok. £79.49 for the kit and £105 for postage. That's about $A325 to land them here. So that's a no from me.

There was a place in QLD selling Tuffrok a couple of years ago

I have emailed them about a better freight deal. No answer yet but suspect I know the answer already.

They are quite heavy. I got a surprise when mine arrived. I bought mine through an AULRO group buy

Found they have an ebay store (Tuff-rok). Mudflaps on there show a freight charge of about $A77 "Express to Australia", plus an import charge of about $A14. But in the text of the ad it states that the freight charge is for UK deliveries only and to contact them for "other locations".

Is this hike in freight something to do with Brexit?? Or just greedy freight companies now they are getting more work with everyone buying online. I'm guessing the latter.

that is the price of Royal Mail to Australia sadly. You may get a better deal with a freight company but you'll have to organise for them to be picked up. I emailed tuffrok about this very issue also and got a pretty poor response ("take it or leave it"). In the end I got them posted to a friend in London for 7 pounds and they brought them back to Australia for me in their luggage.

Royal Mail Economy Parcel to Australia

I lived in the UK for a few years and sent parcels back using the Royal Mail. Quite reliable.

This retailer surely does business with Royal Mail.
From the Royal Mail website (https://www.royalmail.com/sending/international/international-economy), an up to 2kgs parcel post to Australia costs GBP 14.25. (AUD 21.30)
Are the mudflaps less than 2kgs?
The catch is that it takes up to 12 weeks till delivery.
For items that are not so time sensitive. This may be a good alternative?
The Tuff Rock mudflaps do have a wonderful reputation for quality. Thank you.

They’re probably about 2kg each!

My guess Is maybe like 10kg for all 4. They’re seriously big and therefore heavy

Thanks for the good advice again everyone - I went with the tuffroks - $258 delivered from their ebay shopfront.

Also, have to say that Steve from Britishautoparts was very good in dealing with the unfolding debacle in regard to the full set of after market I ordered - which was a lumbering fail over the last couple of months - but he has fully refunded my purchase and my return freight. Well done Steve!

Cannon, have received any advice from the seller. I haven't - silence over 48hrs is a bit odd.

ps. funny operator. I emailed them and replied Hi, As per our listing mudflaps take up to 5 working days as they are made to order Tuff-Rok team.

Fairly to the point. That was not obvious to me but typically you get a order confirmation from a seller pretty quickly. Anyway, I think that is confirmation of my order :)

Tuff Roks. Not bad service. Ordered 13 July, they were then made and shipped and arrived today. 19 days from hitting the order button seems pretty good to me these days. Happy with quality.

Looks like I'm too late to the party - Tuffrok website now states they're closed.
Tuff-Rok | Tuff Tested Stuff For Land Rovers (https://www.tuff-rok.com/)

Has anyone ordered from Atlantic British? US based, but they list the tuffroks as available on their website. Expecting shipping cost will make them prohibitive.
Land Rover Parts & Rover Accessories | Discovery, Range Rover, Sport, Defender, LR3, LR4, and Land Rover Series Parts & Accessories (https://www.roverparts.com/)

Alternatively it looks like D1/Defender flaps would be the go.
D4 Mudflaps (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-3-and-4-a/203930-d4-mudflaps-6.html)

How about a generous offer to create a pattern of the proprietary products. Once patterns are available it should be viable to make copies using used 10mm rubber conveyor belting.

I was also too slow to order a set of Tuff Rok mud flaps, but this set from RallyFlapz looks to be the same based on the online picture.

rallyflapZ Mud Flaps to fit DISCOVERY 4 / LR4 09-16 BLACK All Options (https://www.rallyflapz.co.uk/rallyflapz--mud-flaps-to-fit--discovery-4---lr4--09-16-black-all-options-6110-p.asp)

But like others, I struggle to pay $220 (including delivery from the UK to Australia).

Good find. Not sure on how the front flaps look. Might just be the gloss finish though...
