Where is this bit from

Hi guys, did an oil change on my 2011 D4 2.7 the other day. I found this part on the floor when i finished. It is a short length of split hose. I assume it is protecting something?

Any ideas?

I'm guessing from the top of the engine where the fan cowling rubs on a pipe.
