Chequer plate. Love it or hate it.

I love it and think the new 130 looks bald without it.

So is there a significant difference between 2mm and 3mm plating? I had 3mm on my previous LandRover that made it very practical to hop around on the bonnet and wings.

I'm finding it harder to track down 3mm wing and bonnet plating these days ( must be black).

Is 2mm good enough? I suppose option 3 would be to get the faux plating sticker that comes with the new Defender SUV 🤣

Cheers

Alan

Dunno about the wing top stuff, but KLR have 3mm for the Puma bonnet - not cheap though! Puma Bonnet Chequer Plate Kit - KLR Automotive (https://klrautomotive.com.au/missing-product-name109/)

There are 2 types of "3mm"... most are measured as the overall thickness which includes the raised section.
I use plate that is measured as 3mm plate thickness with the raised section on top of that 3mm.

I've seen the same issue with "2mm" checker plate which was actually 1.6mm plate with the raised bits making it up to 2mm.
