Got a winch? QANTAS needs you.

Been bogged since Monday, the parking fees are adding up. [bigwhistle]

This is what happens when you don't carry a decent set of recovery boards with you [bigwhistle]

It's what happens when you blindly follow a GPS.

Need to deflate tyres down to 18 PSI and then get some Max Trax

The lady in my GPS must get upset with me , I'm always ignoring her direction & she has to constantly recalculate the trip because she is always trying to take me the long way .

I turn the volume off on mine as I tend to get a sore throat arguing and swearing at the GPS "Lady"[bigwhistle]

Hi,
Check the Avoidances settings or Route Preferences.
They can affect choices like Fastest Route, Shortest Route, Avoid Freeways, Avoid Gravel Roads, Avoid Ferries etc.

I have none of those problems.
I look at a map....one of those printed paper things that show you where things are before you're already trying to get there.
if I'm a little unfamiliar I write up a route on post it notes and "tear off" each achieved leg of my route.
It never ever lets me down , never ever conflicts with me , and I always very simply achieve my goal.
I do this all over Australia , and don't need reception , or batteries or plugins.
Yes , I have a mobile phone , I ring people I want to talk to on it.

Still use the printed map to decide the route then set way points so the computer goes the right way. Hate the magical mystery tours you end up on if the computer is left to decide the route. Used to use the post it note method but found this more than satisfactory
Certainly beats the old voice activated version that sat in the left seat and would say turn left now. Turn where there are no side streets? That one we passed back there

Both my 4wds quite often have their GPS routes queried/altered/negated by a similar, 'Override Function', which is activated by a certain pressure on the left seat. [biggrin]

My wife and I call our car GPS “Lady Map” - she frequently can’t navigate.

Back in 60's - 70's if you were going on a road trip the RACQ would supply you with strip maps so if you were going from Brisbane to Cairns each page would cover between major towns so Brisbane to Gympie , Gympie to Maryborough & so on.
Up until we bought our now car that has a built in GPS I used a RACQ Australian Street Atlas to find my way to all parts of Qld with work .

I tend to think of the arguing and ignoring the GPS Lady as practice for marriage.

Strip map used to be a game played on long trips where each time the navigator got directions wrong a piece of clothing had to come off. Did not improve navigation but made for a more interesting trip
