Hello all.

Also where do i get them so I dont have to get a 4th mortgage

As always, thanks in advance

I don't know much about the D3 V8s, but I would suggest a search on the UK suppliers like AF, rimmer bros, island 4x4 etc they support parts for all discos and lr vehicles back to Series 1.

Edit: check here they list both sensors, not too dear either: https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/exhaust-system-44-aj-v8-petrol-exc-north-america-15714-c.asp

This will sound like a dum question( and may well be never owning a D3 V8)
are you sure your car actually HAS 4 O2 sensors?
The D2's were famous for saying the rear O2's failed,, but they didnt have post cat O2's EXCEPT in America, and naturally the american rears were cheaper than the Ozzy fronts so many were bought but didnt work...... nobody buys anything other than genuine to use in a D2.

Checking the link I posted from AF, there are only 2 o2 sensors on the V8, both post cat, lh and rh. Part no ending in 910. I note that there are lambda sensors as well, part no ending in 960. This for all markets except USA. Therefore i would assume that AU D3 V8s have only 2 sensors. Both share same part no, so bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 2 makes sense to me.. . Perhaps its the lambda sensor on babk 2 that has failed, not the o2?

An O2 sensor is a lambda sensor. The terms are interchangeable. Generally there are narrow band and wide band sensors. Narrow act as a voltage switch around the stoichiometric ratio whereas wide band vary voltage based on the actual AFR. I’m not sure why they’re referring to them with different terms on the diagram you’re discussing unless they’re using the terms to indicate between narrow and wideband types [emoji2369]

Ah I see, makes sense.

AFAIK,, the rears only check the fronts are working,, but... who owned LR when the D3's were designed?

Pre and post cat is the typical configuration. They’re checking that the catalytic converter is working effectively.

Thanks to everyone. Sorry for late replies. Working harder than I should.

I was underneath the other day and I am sure 1 saw 4 so yes, but I will get underneath again and double check. The Americans definitely have 4.

I'm trying to get them from Atlantic British, they have a kit and a removal/ install tool so the whole lot can be bought at once. They appear to be a service item, so I was thinking get rid of all the potential issues at one, if the price is ok.

I'm assuming bank 2 is post cat and bank 1 pre. that's what I seem to be able to find thus far.

I'm trying to communicate with Atlantic British now. Ill get underneath next couple of days and look. In the meantime the weird throttle control and engine running at less the ideal conditions will continue.

I will report what I know.

Thanks everyone.

You may find that Atlantic/British have a vid on removal...
