Driver's window tint bubbling?

Discovery 4, 2015, what I believe is factory standard tint (pretty discrete, not particularly strong at all). The interior of the driver's window has a group of small 'pimples' appearing, suggesting to me that the a tint film is getting tired.

a) Anyone know if the factory tint is a film, or actually darker glass?

b) suggestions? If factory fit, anyone know of supplier of door windows at reasonable price? If not, anyone know of a good tinting shop in Brisbane area who could match the original without giving that 'crappy boy racer peeling film look' within about a week?

Factory tint is the actual glass, not a film. You have an aftermarket film if it is starting to bubble.

Correct,and if you bought the vehicle new or have all the documentation you may find the tint has a long warranty,so can go back to the installer.

Correct, lifetime warranty on tint-a-car I believe. Our local AAA tint place does a great job too. Not sure you have them in Qld. Most use high quality 3M films these days, stuff does not go purple and peel. Mines been on for 8years plus and not a bubble to be seen.

My brother recently took his D1 back and had the tint redone under lifetime warranty.It’s close to 30 yrs old.

I don’t know which company did it but he is lucky the company is still around.

I had ours done at the stealers (Barbagallos ) before picking it up and they did a good job. I'm sure I've got paperwork somewhere hidden in my filing system somewhere saying it's covered by a lifetime warranty.
You certainly don't want distracting bubbles on your window from a safety point let alone because it doesn't look good.

I got Barbagallos to do mine when I bought it too. That was in 2011 and it all still looks as good as new. Whoever they used (they told me that they sent it out to be done) did a good job on mine.

Yup, a quick check shows that it's definitely a film... I'm thinking about going to RACQ for a replacement, on the basis that they're likely to be reasonable quality, as opposed to a boy racer's chop Shop operation...

If you really want to see window tint deteriorate quickly, try spewing on it or so I'm told by a friend, not sure if that is covered by a lifetime warranty!

Can't advise on that but if you know where it was originally done - all companies provide a lifetime warranty. Need to prove that to them though.
