Greetings, relatively new to TDV8, owned this one when I bought it last year october. Only 122,000 klms on clock with good service history, but was surprised when talking to LR service specialist, he did not tell me about it not having the auto tranny upgrade fitted, IE oil pan and filter setup, No done by LR Spares Mackay. ust done 10 Thou in it and nearly a year on, LR Spares service indicated Coolant Thermostat Housing in Valley of V8, appaears to have a seam split, ever so slight, but highly recommended getting it done asap. He also suggested getting the rear Housing for Coolant and Heater hoses changed, also in Valley close to fire wall. Not wanting to be a fight A***e, I decided for him to quote as we will soon be heading off, towing a 25ft Van.
He has quoted 13 hours work @$110.00 per hour, and parts inc certain hoses clips fittments and the like with a total estimate cost of ust over 2 K

What are your Thoughts. He also changing EGR seals and other bits, so was a bit shocked, but then I thought, ITS a Rangie, I should know better.

What are your thoughts

Shortly after I bought my TDV8 with 165000km on it I noticed the oil cooler\filter assembly in the valley of the V8 was cracked and leaking. Replaced it my self and found it took much longer than expected due to all the bits that needed removing with some being especially difficult to access.
If you have a crack \ leak in the thermostat housing area it must be replaced before going on a trip.
Due to the effort to get in to the V8 valley, it makes sense to replace anything else that can deteriorate at the same time, as a preventative.
I'd look around for an independent LandRover workshop before using a LR dealer for the repair though.

I had the thermostat housing and all coolant hoses replaced on my L322 3.6 late last year. Labour was 13 hrs, and with parts about $4k by a Queensland independent. I agree with Peterjj, I would generally use an independent over a dealer.

I would have them look for any sign of oil leaks while they have done all that work to remove stuff to get to that area, so any manifold/rocker cover etc leaks can be repaired then. Otherwise you will pay again to have the same stuff removed to access the same area.

Labour at $110.00 an hour is very cheap.

I wouldn’t have thought many would be at that rate, definitely not a dealer.

Hi

Does anyone have a parts list and exploded view of all the coolant hoses in the valley from the Thermostat housing and what I think is called the Coolant Hose Connection Assembly located at the rear of the valley?

Car is a June 2010 build RRS TDV8

In the process of organising the replacement of oil/fuel cooler and looking at all other work that should be done while the top end is pulled apart - eg Thermostat housing and associated hoses, Coolant hose connection assembly (?) , EGR blank and remap, and replace rocker cover gaskets

Appreciate any assistance with parts lists and exploded views anyone might have available for this car as want to price all OEM parts out of the UK - previously found this quite a lot cheaper than sourcing OEM parts here in AUS for my long gone 2007 RRS TDV8

Also, does anyone know if front strut part number LR016416 is suitable for both front right and left corners or if each corner has a different part number?

Tks

If I went that far.. I wouldve pulled the rad for inspection. But hindsight is 20 20..
My SDV8 rad was half blocked.. did that cause the hose to split?? or did the hose split first?
All I know the rads themselves are very scarce and have very fine tubes...
Hope it all turned out Ok...
