and you even get a transformer with the purchase with an ozzie plug on the end.....
the tools come from the u.s, and just really wanted to say the tools are top notch and we are really really happy with the guy off ebay the tools and the quick postage.........the guy just doesn't do the 7 set he does 5,6 and 9 also
so if your after buying new tools give the link a look as i feel we have got good value for money, especially as the drill that we got in the set was priced at bunnings at over $700......

The opening bid is $1250, so what happens with customs (GST, duty etc).
I read recently of someone (TombRaider?) who imported seats and skipped customs because it was less than $1000, but someone else got pinged when the value was over $1000.
Did you get it through without customs taking an interest?
Cheers

yep no customs charges or anything
don't know whether we were lucky or not but came straight to the door with dhl express no problems postage took a week and it was trackable
a well worth purchase as far as i'm conserned........
was very worried at first as the deal seemed a little to good to be true but i emailed the guy and he was really nice and helpful reassured me about the shipping etc.....
the only thing i can suggest is email him see what he says......

If the buy price is over $1000 then you will most likely have to pay import duty and GST.

I have bought heaps of items from that seller and he is always good to deal with. Being a builder my tools get a hard time and I have trouble wearing out my Dewalt tools so I can buy new ones, infact none have worn out in more than 10 years so I just keep collecting new ones anyway. If you keep a watch on items you want and are not in a hurry to buy you often get an item at a really good price if no-one else bids on it.

Thats the trouble, you went to Bunnings. All the tradesmen I know hate Bunnings and only go there as a last resort. Bunnings is designed to sell items to handypersons at inflated prices because they dont know any better and Bunnings advertising says they are always the cheapest!

Stuff me that is a good price, i just wish i had the cash to take advantage of it. If anyone is looking for power tools then Dewalt is the go, bugger the Makita that turned to crap years ago when they shifted their production from Japan to china to cut costs. As mentioned above the drill along with one battery is worth in the vacinity of $700, all that bought individually here in oz would cost upwards of 3-4k. Matt

Makita have picked up their game over the last couple of years and the quality is now comparable to Dewalt and usually at a slightly better price if you buy from the internet. The last couple of Makita battery tools I have bought were made in the US and UK and very good quality. (18 volt dustless metal saw and 18 volt battery drill)
I consider only 18 volt and above usefull for trade work.

Hi Ian thats good to know, i was always a Makita man until i started working in M10 in Wagga at UNI and saw the problems people were having. In the end they stopped stocking Makita stuff and only sold Dewalt. I have a Makita Router, electric drill and 9 1/4in circular saw and love them, awsome tools. Matt

My brother is a power tool sales rep and recommends Dewalt for good tools if you can afford them. In his opinion it all depends on how much you use them. If they are used bugger all he recommends Ozito as they have a 3 year warranty and will change over no questions asked at point of purchase. I have an Ozito belt sander and router and have not had a spot of drama with them. I also have a mid priced Dewalt drill which has been great (actually Black & Decker which a lot of people do not know). Bosch tools can be good as can Milwaukee tools. The old Makitas are good and are getting better again. Bunnings did have a Dewalt 18w pack out here for $1250 last week, but I am not sure wether it was the 5 or 7 piece. I know it did have the recipricating saw as that is what I want we use the exact same one for vehicle extrication, the light, the drill, the circ saw and not sure what else. Will have a look. I generally disagree Bunnings have a lot of good gear if you look or ask. They are primarily aimed at DIY handymen though not trade.

All dewalt tools come from the black and decker factory. Black and decker got a name for being cheap crap, and alot of the handy man stuff still is. So to remove themselves from that they branded their tradesman tools dewalt so people wouldnt say oooh its black and decker cant be that good. As it turns out the stuff is bullet proof. Its amazing what you learn when you work in a hardware store and spend time talking to the bloke who has been dealing in it for years.
I own two Black and Decker Firestorm drills and they are brilliant, the batteries are approaching their used by date but they are awsome.
Hitachi and Metabo are both good brands. Matt
