Transmission cost - Newcastle/Sydney?

Hi folks -

I have just been quoted $10,000 by one place and $15,000 by another for a transmission reconditioning.
Am I about to be ripped off? I feel like I was seeing posts talking $6,000 to $7,000 not that many years ago.

Who and where come recommended? We are around Newcastle, but the car can make it to Sydney if needs be.

ZF6 or ZF8 ? , most quotes i've seen were $6000-7500 for a ZF6.

Ill be talking to wyong automatic transmissions when mine gets to old, he did my valve body freshen up and I buy my trans oil from him.. Great bloke

The boys there know their stuff. Rod rebuilt my D3 transmission years ago, strengthened and rebuilt my mates Jackaroo V6 and has serviced my D4 and RRS since then.
