I was at a 16th birthday last week and they were playing a youtube game "name the brand" where icons/symbols/branding was displayed and you have to name the element. Facebook came up and I heard one 16 year old ask the birthday girl "Facebook? What's that?". She replied .....

"Facebook is like Instagram for old people".

Love it. These are kids that go into a panic attack if their phone goes flat whereas if my phone goes flat I bask in the serenity.

What's Tik Tok, then? That seems to be the go with the youngsters I know.

A few years ago, I placed my phone and wallet on the mudguard of my 'tilly, took the dog into the house yard, returned to the 'tilly and promptly drove off.
Luckily, the wallet fell off about 50m along the access track, but the phone was never to be seen again, following a 100km round trip.
After getting very ****ed off with myself, with my stupidity, I soon realised that not having a phone wasn't all that detrimental to my lifestyle, as I'm not that an important person.
It was only after six or seven weeks of badgering from my wife, family and friends, that I purchased another phone, just to placate them.

Yes its great not to have the bloody thing at times,mine often does around 40 to 50 calls a work day,most for work.

Thats one of the many reasons i enjoy camping,touring in remote areas.

These days anytime we are away,my phone is off,diverted to one of the boys,the minute we leave.If they want me they can call SWMBO's.Thats if its not flat and we are in range.

One thing which is a bit of a pain is TXTs dont seem to divert,but just have to live with that.

Hi,
For more than a decade I got by with a button phone and a tablet for the internet stuff.
I still have the tablet but upgraded the phone as texting was tedious. Now with unlimited calls, I'm using voice but only to family.
It spends most of the time switched off unless I'm navigating or using the camera.

Sure is. The kids are on Instagram, but really more so Snapchat and TikTok. BeReal I think is starting to gain momentum with the kids but Im not sure if that will be as big as Snapchat and TikTok.

My wife gets annoyed with me because I often put my phone down and forget about it or I go out without it. I also always have voicemail turned off. If I don't answer it's probably because I don't have my phone with me.

Cambridge Analytica meant I will never have anything to do with farcebook.

Mobile service is very dodgy in the house, and non-existent over most of the property, and most of the way into town. So the mobile phone stays on a shelf unless I am leaving home, although the kids have talked me into carrying it when away from the house, even though it does not work most places.

With tech you could sort all that out,but I can see reasons to just leave it how it is[thumbsupbig]
