Afternoon all,
I had the pleasure of finding my rear sliding window shattered this morning by some mongrels overnight, who then proceeded to upend the entire vehicle and steal all of my power tools and anything else of value. Not the best start to an otherwise gorgeous day in Brisbane.
Could anyone confirm the process for replacing the operable/sliding pane in the rear side window arrangement? Is this a simple slip in task or does the whole window and frame arrangement need to be replaced?
If I need to go down the path of an entire frame replacement then I would probably take the money from the insurer and install gullwings. If not then I’ll probably just replace the broken sliding pane for the meantime and spend the spare cash on replacing my tools.
As far as gullwings are concerned can anyone provide longer term feedback on the explore glazing options? I would be looking at the glazed version.
Any advice or guidance/pros/cons would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Dave

Hi Dave.
This sounds like a great excuse to fit gullwings either way. It's probably a similar amount of work, and not only are they much more convenient, they don't leak or rattle.
Honestly, I wouldn't bother fixing the sliding one.

I installed a gull wing on the passenger side for accessing the fridge and then converted my ds slider to a double slider (using the parts from the window I removed) for accessing my shadow board, recovery gear, some spares, service kit and oils.
Was pretty easy and I fitted rubber and felt seals, used a standard push button lock from a new double hung window to keep it secure.
Some dust got in but it was pretty water tight.

Update: Unfortunately my insurers aren’t willing to pay out the quoted $2900 repair cost from OBrien Glass (with a view to purchasing gullwings) so I will go down the route of having them repair it and sort the gullwings down the track.
They have noted the part (CPB000200) is 6 weeks out of the UK.
Just checking if anyone has either a RHS sliding glass pane laying around (for purchase) or has an entire RHS cargo glass arrangement/incl frame (in good condition) they would be willing to sell?
Re: entire frame - I am based in Brisbane so would probably need to be fairly local (SEQ) to avoid excessive postage costs.
Thanks in advance

Thanks Robmacca.
Unfortunately I can’t seem to locate anything attached or an operable link.
Are you able to try again or perhaps send a PM if that’s easier?
Thanks, Dave
