Hi guys broken down in Tassie getting towed now.
possible overboost fault then it had a rattling sound and died. Lots of white smoke bit of oil splash in the engine bay. Sorry I cleared the fault so don’t remember what code it was.
we are getting towed now but just wanted to know if there is a better place to tow to rather then the dealership ( Neil bucklers in Launceston)

Justin Cooper... best Indie in the WORLD!
That’s the contact my indie from Canberra gave me too - although he didn’t mention the best indie in the world bit.
I spoke to Justin, he can’t squeeze me in until October at this stage. So that’s not going to work for us, but another indie in Launceston has said they can at least look at it and let me know what it is - worst case scenario is turbo seal but I’m hoping I know more later today when it gets towed to him.
Mods, as this is no longer urgent but would be good to update with what happens could you please move this thread to the L320 section thanks.

Done. Hope I didn't break it. Best of luck.

So the indie in Launceston had a look at it, and the final outcome is a failed injector causing a melted piston! There is oil and diesel all through the intake and exhaust.
Coming 9 months after the previous vehicle broke a timing chain and killed that engine, it was a real sucker punch.
So now I am waiting to get it towed to Sydney for a rebuilt engine, which apparently is booked in for about the end of the month, if every thing lines up.
So - how do i keep an eye on the injectors in the future? Is this something that is recommended every so often, say 100k kms mark?
This vehicle had 152k kms when we got it and we have now put another 19k kms on it in the last six months, most of that towing our caravan which is only about 1500kg all up. The hire caravan was 3100kg and only towed for about 100km.

So just to sew this one up.
Picked up the car last week, other than a few niggles and one rear main seal leak, the car was very smooth.
The first 2000 kms were uneventful, but then a transmission line broke and left us stranded on Orange! Getting fixed now and hopefully back next Monday.
