for many it is labour day

for just as many others it's labor day , did the labor party take the day off?

what is it for you?

and for another woftam daylight savings has resumed....

just as well we've hung special light reflective curtains....

my watch has an automatic daylight savings changeover on it which I disabled...hell, I'd never know the correct time otherwise....

It's the Queen's Birthday this year, but will be the King's Birthday next year, until we get an Australian head of state.

I had to Google “woftam”.

For some obscure reason, I recall there used to be a competitive greyhound, in the 80s or 90s, called 'Wafwotam', the first two letters representing the words, 'What a'.

queens birthday? try 13th June.

I checked my reference to labour day(sic) , but is it really labor day?

I'm amazed working Australians don't know their public holidays.

I bet you all know the next one......

Woftam Apiaries is growing rapidly and producing exceptional tasting honey. It is pure, with no additives, just as the bees intended.

Is the next one that NT Croc racing? [biggrin]

Didn't know it was a 'hoiy day' yesterday.

Spent the afternoon doing a fish survey in SE Melb setting gear at 20 sites along a 10km stroll in long grass and swamp wearing waders.

Spent this morning repeating the stroll in waders recording the data.

Bit tired this arvo. DL

Lucky you. I spent the day sawing up limbs after the tree lopper scalped some of our trees.
The trusty Ryobi electric chainsaw went thru four batteries and needed cleaning twice, but geez it churns through the limbs.
Now I have two box trailer with cage loads of leaves and small branches for the tip, plus a shed full of firewood to dry out for next winter.
So that's a productive use of the Queen's non-birthday holiday.

Reminds me of the days setting hundreds of Elliotte traps in the rainforest with my Father and on occasions, Lab assistants.

Then the next day checking the traps, recording the details of what was caught in them, some were tagged, rebaiting, and on it went for usually four days.

Then collecting them all, after the 4 days, and pull them apart, clean them, reassemble and back into the carry cases, pack them back into the Land Rover.

A few days later repeat in another area of the forest.Leeches were the main problem, they were plentifull in the rianforests, particularly if it was raining.

All fun and games.

Queens birthday just gone?
Over at one sons place celebrating both sons Birthdays, they are within 6 days of each other.
One was actually born same day Brock won his last Bathurst,i dont know what was more interesting, the birth or the TV in the waiting room[bighmmm][biggrin]

I'm sure everyone in the 'mother country' would know that.

I didn't and I don't care.

Common parlance in motor racing circles.

Common descriptive practice in the military as well, along with FIGJAM. Have met a number of both.
