Hi all,
Changed the battery in the key as I had : low key battery: warning
on dash.
New battery didnt work so I changed back to old battery and still doesnt work. This was a new battery after I had changed it earlier last month when I first got low key battery warning.
Can get into car by using door lock, but alarm goes off and car doesnt start but can turn key to position 2.
Do I have to program the key again or is it something else.
beast is 2003 TD6 RR

You may have to reprogram the key.

See this sticky: Explanation of the reasons for the keyfob re-sync steps (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l322-range-rover/274610-explanation-reasons-keyfob-re-sync-steps.html)

UPDATE:

Tried reprogramming keys,didnt work, BUT

Have an old key with the buttons not working anymore(hadnt had battery in it for 3 maybe 4 years)
Put new battery in it and it cancels alarm and I can start the engine.
But keyfob still doesnt work on either of them.
Also suspension wont work(had it in access mode and it raised up to standard height. :soapbox:)

Will get iid tool on it tomorrow when I have some time and see whats going on.

Ohh the joys of computers in cars :no2:soapbox::bat::rocket:

How is your main battery ?

Hi Laurie,
Main battery is good, its the only one I got.
Connected up iid tool and it had a few errors, cleared them all and some came back.
Mostly the ones that always come on.
There were a couple of odd ones that didnt have a specific number 0X??
Took it for a drive as it seems to be behaving itself, suspension lowered to hwy mode on the hwy.
Went to a locksmith and checked the rfd,s, 1 was working the other not.
My problem now is that I can only access the car by the doorlock, when I open the door, the alarm sounds until I put key
in ignition and switch to start position with key, then the alarm goes off. Also only 1 key lets me start the car( the old key with crappy buttons grrr).

So the question is:
How do I fix the alarm and how do I get remote locking synced back onto key(s).
Have tried reprogramming keys and it still doesnt work, the red light doesnt appear after you synch the key, nor does it appear when you press any of the buttons.
Could it be the bcm is kapput or is it something else.

All answers greatfully received as to my problem.

I had to try reprogramming mine several times. I don't recall the exact reason(s) but you have to do both keys. You can't do only one. If you do, only that key will work.

That's the key to the problem.

Don't laugh, but did you use a Duracel battery ? Plenty of comments on Ffrr that some other battery brands cause troubles like your having.

Laurie,
Definately using Duracell, altho I read somewhere that they used Panasonic batteries when they first came out.

I keep getting told that the key fob battery re-charges when you are using the key in the car.
I'm just wondering how that is possible if there is only one contact (the actual key) going into the vehicle?
How does that complete any circuit that the battery might be on?
I'm happy if they do, but I'm thinking that they don't actually re-charge.
Anybody know for sure?

^^ not on my L322. I think it might recharge on the RRS.

Was told on my D3 that key battery charged when in ignition, and locksmith (who makes and programs new keys) reckons that battery key on L322 also charges in ignition.

I tend to use one key mostly and leave others for spares, but if they have to be used to charge, then I don't want to find that I go to use spare and battery has died because I wasn't using it.
Just cannot find any certain information one way or the other.

If your D3 key fob is a sealed unit, the battery is a rechargeable one. It recharges by induction when the key is in the ignition.
You can recharge your spare key by rotating which key you use a few times each year. Alternatively, if your spare has gone completely flat, you can tape the spare key on the steering column near the ignition point whilst using the main key.
best wishes Jeffoir.

My 2003 L322 key fob has a standard CR2032 battery, not rechargeable.
Dunno about later models.

Is he confusing the L322 RR with the L320 RRS?
