View Full Version : Woeful washer pump gives it in the rear but not the front

Hi all,

Having a bit of an issue with my front washer pump. (2011 Defender Puma for reference)
When I push the stalk in for the jet to anemically spray the front windscreen, the pump doesn't even turn on so I just get squeaking wipers over a nice dusty shield [bigsad]

Contrastingly, if I press the fluid button for the rear screen - no problems - washer cycles and fluid dribbles like the bladder of a ninety-year old with a grapefruit sized prostate. Just as Land Rover intended.

I've tried replacing the wiper stalk - same issue... I haven't checked power getting to the pump because I figure if rear is working its working... Unless there are two pumps? I even tried a new pump first off to no avail... Gotta stop buying parts before identifying issues...
Any ideas? Sounding like a break in the wire somewhere down the track but that sounds a PITA to identify with it all bundled in the harness [bawl]

Cheers
Gus

Dunno about the Puma, but earlier Defenders had two pumps - I just had a look at RAVE.

And there it is... Didn't realise there were two! Others hidden in behind
Just changed power lead over and rear pump works with stalk so evidently just a broken pump

Now to try get the bugger out!

Thanks
