I'm loading a single trailer at Eastern Creek/Minchenbury, then l'll get back on the M7 to head across the boring Hay Plains. I reckon I'll be ready for a coffee by Wakerie.
I'm still looking for a route that gives Wyalla a wide berth, but it looks like I might have to tip-toe from Horricks Pass to west of Iron Knob.[tonguewink]

If you're only in a single instead of going down M7 and Hume you could go over the mountain through Dubbo and Broken Hill. I think flooding has gone from Dubbo area.
Still flat and featureless out past Dubbo, you could imagine you are on the Hay plains. [biggrin]

BradC
10th November 2022, 09:41 PM
If you trust Google maps to let you know if a road is open or not, provided the rig is adequately sealed for wading you could float your way to Cape Town with the Westerly current!

ChookD2
10th November 2022, 09:54 PM
Yes, roads very much better.

Try here for road conditions/alerts etc for NSW. Live Traffic NSW (https://www.livetraffic.com/)

Graeme
10th November 2022, 09:54 PM
Live Traffic still shows Wagga to Darlington Point closed and the river is only just peaking at Narranderra so expect the road to still be closed for several days. Diverting through Griffith then down the Darlington Point is the bypass. Better to head across to Griffith direct from just after Yass rather than go down to Wagga then back up to Ardlethan.
The Harden/Griffith turn-off west of Yass has been for some time a little further on than the Bowning turn-off and is well signposted.

Yeah, but your speed bumps don't have a bakery that makes pies as good as the one at Bakers Hill. It has that going for it anyway.

I recall when the council put the new roundabout, with the raised flowerbed in the middle, one predawn morning a truck came up the freeway unaware of the obstacle. Hey Pedro, this is the oil I was talking about Thursday night. You were after a C1 and this is a C3, so not entirely compatible.

ENVIRO+ 5W-40 (FULL SYN.) | Penrite Oil (https://penriteoil.com.au/products/enviro-5w-40-full-syn)

It was what I ran in the D3 when it still had a DPF. In fact I'm still running it, although I have 20L of HPR 5 in the garage for the next couple.

I wonder if all this C1, C3, etc stuff matters as my oil cap just says 5W-30 IIRC.

It's about the residual levels of ash and its composition which can affect the exhaust catalysts apparently. Looking at the tables C1 has a poofteenth less than C3. Having said that the 40 weight C3 has considerably more HTHS over the 30 weight C1.

Towing last week I saw sump temps > 125C which means the temps in the bearings are significantly higher. I want all the HTHS I can get. Penrite suggest C1 is obsolete and has been replaced by C4, but again only available in a 5W30.
