Hello wise forum.
I have an 85 County that needs a new (second hand) second row seat.
I’ve seen online people have put puma second row seats in earlier models but don’t want to hack into the body to achieve this nor cough up the coin for what people are asking.
I’ve also read about people putting Range Rover seats in but have no idea which year/model these would be.
In my perfect world I’d love something that pretty much bolts straight in with a minimum of fuss but am open to fabricating new rails if the outcome is durable, comfortable and cheap(ish)
So, keen to hear what you, wise forum, have done and would you do it again?

I remember years back an article about fitting Renault Scenic seats into a Defender.

Probably not the easiest car to find at a wreckers though.
Found one in Dandenong.

Thanks for going to the effort Colin.
They seem to fit well but as you say hard to find. Also wish I knew what year they were using.

You need to remember that any change will require engineering. Discuss with an engineer before actually spending anything on it. I just got the rear seats re-upholstered.

As John has already mentioned, technically any mods would require a engineers inspection etc etc, in the real world most of us do things and dont go as far as get it all approved.
But what I do run into a lot is Defender owners coming to live in W.A and I prep the vehicle for a roadworthy inspection, non-Land Rover seats, pretty well forget it, I keep a stock of used Defender seats just for this purpose, the front seats are the worst.
I to would simply get the rear seats rebuilt and get some extra padding fitted to it if you feel the need.

I fitted Exmoor Trim Hi Back centre seats to a 110 200 tdi many years ago. Great for the kids. The bases and seat backs were sold separately. Don't know if they still do them.

They look great, and same bolt holes too.
I’ll look into it 👍

just to clarify, when I say non Defender seats, I mean some seats out of a plain white non descript van, car or otherwise.
Exmoor seats I often use as for all intended purposes they are "Defender" seats.
if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck.
