Standard springs with 2" terrafirma shocks

New to all things LR, so here goes...
Have just bought an 04 D2 TD5 that has had the Terrafirma TF229 2" medium load lift conversion kit fitted to it about 6 months ago.
I bought this to use as a tow vehicle and will be fitting air bags to the rear coils as well. I don't intend to be doing any hard 4x4 work, worst would be a cut up forestry track occasionally.
What I am wanting to know is can I change the springs back to standard height ones without changing the near new shocks as well. Does anything else have to be changed as well.
Don't want to have to go to the added expense of buying new std shocks as well.

Without knowing the specifics of that shock, more than likely you will be ok on the front.

On the rear, if the shock doesn't limit the travel and the standard airbag gets pulled on, then it will eventually pull the airbag apart. I'd be very careful with long travel shocks and SLS air springs.

Thanks . Pretty much have decided to replace both shocks and springs. The Terra Firma 2" lift springs and shocks are only a couple of month old and hardly used at all, so will probably sell them. PO put them on just before I bought it.

The OP's car has coils, not SLS. As l read it, he wants to fit auxiliary, helper air bags.
Fit the new springs, then jack up the chassis, making sure the coils dont dislocate.

Argh, you're right. I misread that re the type of airbags.

You will know as soon as you're doing the shocks up if the springs come loose. I don't think you'll have any problems with retaining the TF shocks with standard springs.

The main danger in using long shocks is that they will be damaged on bottoming the suspension. the shaft may hit the foot valve.

With airbags fitted this should not be an issue as the airbags perform the role of suspension limiters or additional bumpstops.

BTW I cut the bottom insulator in half on my airbag 2inch kit as to me they are too long and act as additional springs even unladen. I am still happy with the result when towing.
