Yesterday I got a phone call from the lady next door "have you looked at the forest road lately?". My answer was yes, a few days ago, and decided it was too wet to even look. She said she would take the four wheel motorbike and have a look today, and let me know how it is.
So this afternoon, I get a phone call "I'm bogged". So I check where and head off in the 2a - with some recovery gear. Our normal creek crossing is completely blocked by a fallen tree, so I head towards the lower crossing, picking her and her dog up on the way. I proceed to the lower crossing, and get across with not too much drama. Had to stop and cut up a small fallen tree halfway up the other side, but thenhead in the indicated direction, back towards the usual crossing. There is a tree on the road, but tracks round it. Then stopped, because the ground looked wet.
Walked another fifty metres, round a bend, and there is the bike, leaning at 45 degrees, with both LH wheels down to the hub in what looks like porridge. I didn't know you could bog them like that! After testing the ground I decided that I can get within the length of the snatch strap safely, so move forward to there. It was difficult to walk close to the bike without sinking. (And I forgot to take pictures!)
Reverse/low pulled it out effortlessly.
