Mals Driving Dream

I am the owner of a new D300 Defender. It is beautiful to drive and excels in every way and the most comfortable vehicle i have ever owned . ( especially 4wd)
I have had a broken drive belt at the 10,000 klm mark. This was a great shock and not expected. I have driven all over Australia in other 4wd's always carrying spare fan belts, hoses ect and never have i had an issue to replace any of them.
I now have a spare belt in my kit (2 actually but that is an additional story) but the question is, has anyone else had this issue, and can i put mine down to a one of, and possibly a faulty belt from the factory? It has made me a little nervous to say the least as i do not want this happening on many planned outback trips and soon many road klms coming up.
I should add this was covered under warranty.
I have some other questions as well but save them for another post.
