I do not get over taken a lot and often push up my speed if being followed- sad competitive streak admitted. The serious bike types smash me of course.

Several times recently I have heard a bike following me. Once recently was on a fairly decent climb on the way back from the Blood bank (yes I am repeating myself)

Those two were held off up the hill just and left a long way behind on the high speed other side. The two of them took me on the next hill - said sorry as they had battery powered/assisted bikes

I do not mind them - people getting out is cool in my view. Do it your way is always my thoughts!

NOT changing my MTB or road one. On another topic- Bike MODs.

I broke spokes on Around the Bay (Port Phillip Bay) ride and was told to toss my 20odd year old wheels out. New wheels are clearly much better despite not being $$$$$$$$$ ones.

At a guess I think the Battery powered/assisted bikes will have a bit tougher time over taking me now [thumbsupbig]

I still pedal, only way to get the good exercise,IMHO.[biggrin]
Can still hit close to 40Km/hr down a real big hill,on the MTB,although the dog cant keep up anymore,as she is getting on a bit.[bigsad]

The E bikes are a lot heavier than a normal MTB,together with the self drive, definitely chew up the tracks a lot more than an old school pedler, like i use.

There are a few comments about banning them from some trails around here. But i dont know who is going to Police such a ban.

Police on trail bikes, probably. Makes as much sense as anything else.

I've just acquired my eMTB and its brilliant.

I use assist when needed, not all the time, and it makes a big difference to how long I can ride.

eMTB vs MTB when I ride with mates is agreed as "We will ride up and down the trails 2-3 times" on eBikes we ride all day!

I would have thought the Police have enough to do,such as working out at the bottom of which hill to place a speed camera[bighmmm]

Council inspectors maybe. They are often around where we go,looking for trail bike riders and dogs off the lead, people dumping rubbish, etc.

I wish I had all day to ride,I am flat out getting a few hours.

Yes I know I will have to get better at time management.

A police person did tell me I was doing 73KPH on a down hill run here. Happily that was in a 80KPH area not the bigger hill near my home [biggrin] I did think of adding a bigger cog as my current biggest gear freewheels at 70. Lay flat aero style allows just a bit more. I did have a tri bike for a while. It topped out at just over 80kph. MAD in Lycra[biggrin] MTB is pushed to get to 45-50kph at most free wheeling in top gear.

Do not see why anyone would want to see banning e-bikes from tracks or trails myself. The smile on the dials of most riders works e-bike or not. Thinking of getting one for my wife. The walking pace rides with her are usually me off the bike running so I do not get frustrated :)

One of my sons has clocked 75Km/hr on his MTB going down a dirt hill.
He has a fancy Garmin watch thingy that tracks everything.

It’s the local community for the local park/nature reserve, which is used by a lot of MTB riders, that are complaining.
The real complaints are when they don’t use the dedicated tracks, make there own through the scrub, then it is eroded away, has happened a lot.
