I'm looking to change the head unit on my 2007 RRS. It is a Logic 7 system and I will be using the JCKFK-853-6 - Stereo Installation kit from Just Car Kits. The kit has an option for the JCK23-244 – Range Rover Fibre Optic Audio Interface to be able to use the Fibre Optic amplifier, but these are out of stock. For anyone who has replaced their head unit which one did you replace it with and is the amplifier necessary other than to drive the sub woofer?

I am also looking to have a reversing camera linked into the head unit

Use the Aerpro kit.

Add a Kenwood or Alpine head unit

Does the Aerpro kit still allow for full functionality of the top screen (GPS & Suspension display)?

Congratulations too on your new purchase!

Congratulations too on your new purchase!

No kit will retain the satnav or 4x4 info.

What is your reason for changing the head out?

If you already have the Nav and Logic-7, you could do what I did and add a GVIF and Carplay box.
That retains the full factory function, plus gives me Carplay, reversing camera, input for a Van camera, interfaces with the buttons on the wheel (I added the phone buttons).

It all works on the factory touch screen.

BradC, I do already have a fully functional Nav and Logic 7, however being an older unit it does not support bluetooth or have a USB input (I know it is a 1st world problem). I would like to have bluetooth interface for phone and music as well as adding a reversing camera to the car as well as the caravan. Updated maps ie Google Maps would be a huge bonus.

Pardon my ignorance but what is a GVIF?

Any chance of a picture of your setup?

TIA

Can't really do a pic as such as there's nothing visible other than a lightning cable that I use to plug the phone in to avoid a wireless dead spot on the narrows bridge. It *just works*.
USB input for Android Auto / Carplay / USB stick with media on it.
Wireless Carplay and/or standard phone Bluetooth hands free. Multiple phones.
Reversing camera.
Van camera.
Steering wheel controls.

I use Apple maps with my phone. Wife uses Google maps with hers. I can switch between Van Camera, LR stock NAV and Carplay with a hidden switch. I also put the Van camera on the RSE displays so the kids can see what is coming up while we're traveling.

With the exception of the button to switch the displays hidden under the HVAC unit, it looks and works like a factory install.

I'm in Dianella if you'd like to come down I'd be happy to show you how it all works and is installed.

Oh, the GVIF is a box that takes inputs from things like cameras, and a HDMI from the Carplay box and puts it on the standard NAV display. GVIF is the interface between the factory Nav (under the seat) and the display (Gigabit Video InterFace).

Or you can rip out and replace. You lose factory Nav, 4x4 display, RSE (including TV/DVD if you had it) and clock on the dash.

Range Rover Sport stereo upgrade Archives - JustCarKits Blog (https://www.justcarkits.co.uk/jck_blog/tag/range-rover-sport-stereo-upgrade/)I should have been more specific, the standard double din lots don't retain the sat nav etc. I couldn't see any price so assume it's expensive.

You're looking at 180 UK Pounds + shipping. All up around $500 plus the head unit which can vary between $250 and $2,500+

That looks a lot easier and also cheaper! I do like the idea of keeping the "original" look. I work in Osborne Park so could easily swing around after work. I'm back at work on 4th Jan, so any time after then that suits you I'd appreciate being able to see how it all operates.

Ah get it now, its not what it appears to be and this can be done without their kit. All you are doing is hiding the original head unit under the dash and looping in the new unit.

This was the original install post I saw that put me onto the Naviplus unit, but for the life of me I can't get Google translate to work now.

Apple CarPlay в Discovery 3 на штатном экране — Land Rover Discovery, 2.7 л., 2008 года на DRIVE2 (https://www-drive2-ru.translate.goog/l/559747077123343634/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-GB)

I made a pdf of it at the time, but it's 27M. If you need it I can post it somewhere.

The instructions that come with it are rudimentary at best, although Naviplus themselves were super responsive to E-mail.

The thing to watch out for with a android system is what version of android it comes with and how/if upgradeable this is. As Ive read mentions that some can be quite old and buggy, which limits what software you can run. I think just using a phone for satnav is the simplest solution for now.
