Hi all, having issues with the indicators on my 300tdi 110. It's the common failure where the indicator stem does nothing, unless the hazard switch is on. With the hazards on and stem off I only have LH, with the stem left I only have LH, then with the stem right I have both LH and RH. I've ordered a new switch as that seems to be the problem, but interested to hear any other thoughts.

The main reason for my post, however, is that when I was trouble shooting an interesting thing happened. I had jumped the 'supply to flasher' and 'light switch supply' pins on the hazard multi plug, creating what I understand to be the switch state with the hazards off, i.e sending current to the stem. This solved the problem, allowing the stem switch to function normally, mostly... The only issue was that the LH blinkers were intermittently dim (also dim on the dash) and when they were dim the relay was switching at an inconsistent speed. But this issue with the LH blinkers only happened sometimes. I'm wondering if it's an earthing issue as there was no hazard switch body to earth, although I thought the switch body only needed earthing for the hazard switch indicator light.

Hopefully that all makes sense, appreciate any thoughts, cheers!

I don’t have a definitive answer for you, but the multipin hazard switch can be the cause of issues. When I had issues with mine, I decided to get a spare hazard switch to eliminate from the diagnostics process. I rang my supplier. $80.00 for genuine, $30.00 for after market. I said I’d get back to him. I looked online. Aliexpress had one for $6.00 delivered. I had already jumped the original hazard switch as you have, so I ordered it. When it arrived it was identical in every way I could see comparing it to the original in the Defender, even down to’Lucas’ and the part number on the back. If I had paid $80.00 for the genuine in the Land Rover box and got that, I would have been none the wiser. Anyway the new one checked out ok and showed that the old one was also ok. My problem was blowing fuses which, after lots of sleuthing over a long time, turned out to be a rust stain across the plastic body of a bullbar mounted indicator lamp causing a short. New LED lamps in the bullbar and the problem finally solved. All that happened along time ago……

Don.Very interesting, I also have bullbar mounted blinkers that are at least a little haggered, so I'll be sure to check them if the new hazard switch doesn't solve the problem. Cheers!
