Well appart from the steering issues i am having my day got worse at about 10am (see tech thread for story on steering issues).

At around 9-10am this morning i got a message from Jason (yabbie) he was rushed to hospital last night after having a mild heart attack. Just had a phone call from him then, they have conducted some 'tests' and they have concluded that he has an arterial blockage. He is being transfered from Wyong to Gosford hospital for surgery tomorrow morning.

Will report back with more info when i have it. Matt

I'm sorry to hear this. Hopefully no permanent damage has been done, and that they can open or bypass it without any fuss. He's a lucky lad.

They are doing that key hole surgery thing with the camera etc so they wont actually need to open him right up, unless they cant find the blockage of course. Matt

That is indeed bad news, he was only saying a couple of weeks ago he was having issues and was concerned about his job due to them.

Matt, pass on our regards to Jayson and hopefully he gets back on deck asap and can get back on the forum as the #1 agitator.
It is amzing what they can do with these blockages now days, if they get it before a fatal attack. He should be in good hands and hopefully all go's well.

that's not good news, the good news is he's still around. they will probably put a stent in if he has a blockage, if it's angina, that will be a different kettle of fish altogether.
give him my best wishes for a speedy recovery

Hope he gets well soon...and that he feels better after they do what they do.

As an aside, for some reason I decided to get a check up earlier in the year and my cholesterol was 6.5. I had no idea about any of this stuff, but 6.5 is ridiculously high apparantly. Doctor wasn't impressed/happy with results and told me to exersize (walk 15,000 steps per day), only eat good foods - nothing fatty etc. and gave me some pamphlets to read. Said I was high risk for heart disease.

I have an office job but by no means am I lazy or inactive - I walk 1.7kms each way to the station to commute 5 days per week. I also didn't eat that badly. And I am only 28 and weigh 78kgs.

Long story short, he told me come back in 3 months, so I started some jogging at lunch times, a glass of red to replace some beer, eat a little better and it went down to 4.7 (if I remember correctly) and the doctor was much happier. It wasn't hard to make a small difference.

It did shock me a little though. If anyone is worried they might be a little 'at risk', they should get themselves checked out.

Not trying to lecture anyone...just trying to help.

Yeah, assuming the block isn't complete or the artery's not good they pump die through the artery and view the block via X-ray. Then as Barney was saying, they can inflate a balloon in the block to open it again and use a stent (like a mesh spring) to keep the block open. All done through a little hole in the groin or wherever.

Cholesterol of 6.5 is a little high and needs some addressing to get back to about 5, but is not real high, I have seen reading of 12.8 after 12hrs of fasting. Now that is worrying. Get it checked a few time over a month to see if there is any differences. It may be due to something you have eaten if it is not consistent.

If that's what the mudpit does I'm never going there.

At 57 I think I better have a few check ups, haven't been for years other than gout in the foot, had to give up red wine & tomato's

Get well soon, Yabbie

Not a good thing to here, I hope all goes well.
My father has had two key hole surgery's done on his heart and they have put two (Stints) in the vein things just out of his heart. They can do great things these days.

Ditto all the above, maybe the mudpit has to have warnings like they do for extreme rides  . As most of you know my partner had to have open heart surgery a couple of months ago, and aside from the scar you wouldnt even know she had it. It is amazing what they can do. Get well mate,

Regards

Send him my best wishes, Ace. I know from the experience with my dad that once the bypass is done he'll feel a lot better and realise he had been less than 100% for longer than he realised.

No, he said the other day when i spoke to him that h would be home in a couple of days but that was dependent on whether or not they could get the blockage out using key hole surgery. Matt
